Spanish soccer fans rush field, stab player in the chest

MALAGA, Spain – Police have arrested one man in the stabbing of a soccer player after a regional division match in southern Spain.

Police say the man was arrested “for his alleged involvement” in the attack that left the player hospitalized with two wounds to the chest.

The 24-year-old player of Alhaurin de la Torre was attacked on the field after his team’s away match at regional rival El Palo in Malaga on Sunday.

The player’s name has not been released. Police are still investigating.
