The Comets’ match on Saturday night against Cedar Rapids will mark the head-coaching debut for Goran Karadzov.

After an offseason makeover, the Kansas City Comets will open their season at 7:05 p.m. Saturday against the Cedar Rapids Rampage at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena.

The match will mark the head-coaching debut for Goran Karadzov, the successor to Vlatko Andonovski, who announced his departure from the position in the offseason. Karadzov was an assistant coach under Andonovski for three seasons with the formerly-named Missouri Comets, who play in the Major Arena Soccer League.

Andonovski remains the head coach for FC Kansas City, the women’s outdoor professional team that plays in the National Women’s Soccer League.

The Comets, who have reverted to their former Kansas City name, return their top four offensive players from last season in Vahid Assadpour, Leo Gibson, Lucas Rodriguez and John Sosa. The quartet combined for 150 points in 2015-16.

The Comets swept Cedar Rapids in three matchups last season. They will continue a three-game home stand with matches against Milwaukee on Nov. 4 and St. Louis on Nov. 13. They have 10 home games scheduled for the Silverstein Eye Centers Arena in Independence.

The team’s matches can be watched on GoLiveSportscast.com or KCComets.com.
