Missouri
TABLE ROCK: 82 degrees, very clear, near normal. Outlook: White River Lodge reports: Bass good on topwater Whopper Ploppers from 5:30 to 7 a.m. and on Dixie Jet spoons during the day on the main lake of the White River arm; smallmouth bass very good on Ned Rigs, small tubes in 5 to 15 feet of water on gravel flats; spotted bass excellent on small swimbaits in 10 to 20 feet of water at the mouths of coves with gravel bottom; bluegills excellent on worms, crickets in 20 feet of water; catfish excellent on juglines, trotlines with small panfish.
BLUE SPRINGS: 82 degrees, clear on the main lake, stained in the coves, slightly high. Outlook: Forty Woods Bait and Tackle reports: Channel catfish very good at night on live bait under a bobber in the shallows; bluegills good on crickets, waxworms in the shallows; hybrids fair on liver; bass fair to good on topwater lures early and late; crappies poor to fair.
JACOMO: 80 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Forty Woods Bait and Tackle reports: Channel catfish very good on live bait in shallow coves; bluegills very good on crickets, waxworms on spawning beds; bass fair to good on topwater baits in the evening along weedlines; crappies poor to fair.
NORFORK: 81 degrees, clear, 1 foot high. Outlook: Bink’s Guide Service reports: Stripers good on white Bink’s spoon in 30 to 40 feet of water; bass good on topwater lures at first light.
LONGVIEW: 71 degrees, 36-inch clarity, normal. Outlook: Longview Marina reports: Catfish excellent on a variety of baits in Mouse Creek; bluegills good on crickets, pieces of worms in the shallows; crappies fair (but small) in the brush; bass fair on plastic frogs in grassy areas.
STOCKTON: 77 degrees, clear, 1.74 feet high. Outlook: Stockton Lake Guide Service reports: Walleyes fair to good on jigs with nightcrawlers in 6 to 20 feet of water off main-lake points; crappies poor to fair on jigs in the deep brush; bass good on jigs 15 feet of water around brush off main-lake points.
SMITHVILLE: 76 degrees, murky, normal. Outlook: Burton’s Bait and Tackle reports: Bass good on Carolina rigs off main-lake points or flipping plastic baits to laydowns, brush and timber; channel catfish good on a variety of baits along the face of the dam; walleyes fair on crankbaits, jigs with nightcrawlers off points; crappies fair on minnows in main-lake brush.
LAKE OF THE OZARKS: 83 degrees, stained, near normal. Outlook: Gier’s Bass Pro reports: Bass fair on Brush Hogs, 10-inch plastic worms in 20 to 25 feet of water in brush; crappies fair on jigs, minnows in 15 to 20 feet of water in brush.
REED AREA: 79 degrees, clear, full pool. Outlook: Department of Conservation reports: Bass good on soft-plastic baits near cover; channel catfish fair on cut bait, chicken liver under a bobber in 2 to 3 feet of water; bluegills, redear sunfish good on worms small jigs.
TRUMAN: 79 degrees, fairly clear, 3 feet high. Outlook: Steve Blake Guide Service reports: White bass, wipers good on spoons, jigs, minnows off humps; crappies good on jigs, 8 to 12 feet down in 10 to 16 feet of water in brush. Largemouth bass fair on Sweet Beavers, plastic worms in the first timber off the grasslines. Below the dam: walleyes fair on crankbaits.
BULL SHOALS: High 70s, clear, 1 foot high. Outlook: Buck Creek Marina reports: Bass fair on topwater lures early and late and on spinnerbaits when it’s windy along the banks in coves; crappies fair on jigs, minnows in 15 to 20 feet of water in the timber; walleyes fair trolling night crawlers in 15 to 20 feet of water on the flats.
TANEYCOMO: Murky, heavy power generation while system is being flushed. Outlook: Lilleys’ Landing reports: Below Fall Creek: Rainbow trout fair to good drifting air-inflated nightcrawlers.
POMME DE TERRE: 82 degrees, clear, 1 foot high. Outlook: Muskie Guide Service reports: All species poor.
Kansas
WILSON: Mid 70s, clear, 5 feet low. Outlook: Knothead’s Bait and Tackle reports: Stripers very good on spoons or fishing with downriggers and live bait in 25 feet of water along the dam; walleyes good (but many are small) on nightcrawler harnesses in 3 to 8 feet of water near the dam; bass good on plastic baits in the coves; channel catfish good on a variety of baits in the coves.
MILFORD: Mid 70s, clearing, 1 foot high. Outlook: Guide Vic Oertle reports: Wipers, white bass fair early and late where fish are chasing shad on the lower half of the lake; smallmouth bass good on on plastic baits along rocky banks; blue and channel catfish good.
WYANDOTTE: 79 degrees, 3-foot clarity, normal. Outlook: Wyandotte Boats reports: Catfish good on chicken livers, nightcrawlers lakewide; bluegills very good on wax worms in the shallows; largemouth bass good on plastic baits.
PERRY: Low 80s, murky, 1 foot high. Outlook: Don and Tom’s Bait and Tackle reports: Catfish good on a variety of baits along the rocky banks in the Rock Creek arm; crappies fair on jigs, minnows in the Rock Creek arm.
CLINTON: Mid 70s, muddy, 2 feet high. Outlook: Don and Tom’s Bait and Tackle reports: Walleyes fair to good on jigs with nightcrawlers off points; flathead catfish good on trotlines with goldfish, panfish in the Wakarusa arm; wipers fair to good where fish are surfacing early and late.
GLEN ELDER: Mid 70s, clear, slightly high. Outlook: Wayne’s Sporting Goods reports: Walleyes fair on jigs with night crawlers in 6 to 8 feet of water on the flats; white bass fair trolling crankbaits in coves; channel catfish good along rocky spawning banks.
POMONA: Mid 70s, murky, 2 feet high. Outlook: Lighthouse Marina reports: White bass poor to fair; channel catfish fair along the dam. Below the dam: flathead catfish, white bass fair.
HILLSDALE: 79 degrees, clearing, normal. Outlook: Jayhawk Marina reports: Largemouth bass fair on crankbaits in the coves; crappies poor to fair on minnows, jigs in 6 to 10 feet of water in the brush; catfish fair on a variety of baits; walleyes fair (but mostly small) on jigs with nightcrawlers on flats.
MELVERN: 75 degrees, murky, 1 foot high. Outlook: Melvern Lake Marina reports: Walleyes fair on jigs with nightcrawlers; smallmouth bass fair to good on crankbaits, jigs in the coves.

This continues to be a great time to chase channel catfish. The fish are in the shallows along rocky banks, and they’re biting. Where? Smithville, Wyandotte, Jacomo, Blue Springs, Longview and Perry, to mention a few.
