Missouri
STOCKTON: 70 degrees, murky, 3 feet high. Outlook: Stockton Lake Guide Service reports: Walleyes good on jigs with night crawlers off points; crappies fair trolling 15 feet down in 30 feet of water; catfish very good on trotlines, juglines with worms; bass fair on spinnerbaits in 5 to 8 feet of water in flooded brush.
JACOMO: High 60s, murky, high. Outlook: Forty Woods Bait and Tackle reports: Channel catfish good on live bait suspended under a bobber along spawning banks; bluegills very good on crickets, redworms in spawning areas; crappies fair on jigs, minnows in deep water; white bass fair to good on Gulp minnows in coves; bass fair to good on topwater lures, crankbaits.
TABLE ROCK: 71 degrees, very clear, near normal. Outlook: White River Lodge reports: All species of black bass excellent on Whopper Ploppers at daybreak and Keitech swimbaits (best color has been rainbow shad) during the day in major coves and on flats.
NORFORK: 75 degrees, murky, 3 feet low. Outlook: Bink’s Guide Service reports: Bass fair on topwater lures at daybreak; stripers good jigging white Bink’s spoons or trolling swimbaits; catfish good on juglines with sunfish.
SMITHVILLE: 70 degrees, muddy in the river arms, dingy on the main lake, 5 feet high. Outlook: Burton’s Bait and Tackle reports: Bass fair on Senkos, jigs, Brush Hogs in the newly flooded areas; channel catfish excellent on night crawlers in the back of coves; white bass fair on jigging spoons in Camp Branch arm; walleyes fair on jigs in newly flooded cover.
LAKE OF THE OZARKS: 74 degrees, stained on main lake, 1 foot low. Outlook: Gier’s Bass Pro reports: Bass fair on wacky-style plastic worms, jigs, topwater lures halfway back in the coves; crappies fair on jigs, minnows, crankbaits in 20 feet of water in the channels; catfish good on cut bait in 25 to 30 feet of water.
REED AREA: 70 degrees, murky, full pool. Outlook: Department of Conservation reports: Bass fair on soft-plastic baits near cover; channel catfish good on worms near moving water; bluegills, redear sunfish good on worms, small jigs.
TRUMAN: 70 degrees, slightly murky, 4.8 feet high. Outlook: Steve Blake Guide Service reports: Crappies fair to good on minnows in 8 to 10 feet of water in the brush; largemouth bass fair on plastic frogs, Chatter baits, spinnerbaits in flooded vegetation; catfish good on juglines, rod and reel with cut bait, worms.
BULL SHOALS: Mid-70s, clear, 1 foot low. Outlook: Buck Creek Marina reports: Bass very good on topwater lures early and on plastic baits during the day off main-lake points and in the brush; crappies good on minnows in 15 to 20 feet of water in the timber; walleyes fair to good on night crawlers in 20 to 25 feet of water on flats in the evening.
TANEYCOMO: Clear, one to two generators running. Outlook: Lilleys’ Landing reports: Below Fall Creek: Rainbow trout very good on air-inflated night crawlers. Trophy Area: Trout very good on size 14 to 16 gray scuds.
POMME DE TERRE: 70 degrees, stained, 2.6 feet high. Outlook: Muskie Guide Service reports: Bass fair on plastic baits, jigs, spinnerbaits in 5 to 10 feet of water; crappies fair on jigs, minnows in brush; white bass fair on topwater lures; muskies fair on crankbaits trolled in 20 feet of water.
BLUE SPRINGS: High 60s, murky, 1.67 feet high. Outlook: Forty Woods Bait and Tackle reports: Channel catfish fair to good on a variety of baits along the dam; bluegills very good on crickets, red worms in spawning areas; hybrids fair on liver near the Jacomo Spillway and Blow Hole; bass fair to good on plastic baits along dropoffs.
LONGVIEW: 70 degrees,stained, 1 foot high. Outlook: Longview Marina reports: Catfish good on prepared bait, minnows in shallow water; crappies fair on jigs, minnows off points; bluegills good on worms off the marina docks; bass fair on plastic baits, crankbaits off points.
Kansas
WILSON: Mid-60s, murky on the upper end, clear on lower end, clear, 6 feet low. Outlook: Knothead’s reports: Walleyes good on jigs with night crawlers in 18 feet of water along dam and off Lucas and Minooka points; stripers fair to good on cut bait in the coves and along the dam; smallmouth, largemouth bass fair on minnows in less than 10 feet of water in coves; catfish good on a variety of baits.
WYANDOTTE: 72 degrees, murky, normal. Outlook: Wyandotte Boats reports: Catfish good to very good on chicken liver lakewide; bluegills very good on wax worms in the shallows; largemouth bass good on plastic baits.
LaCYGNE: Mid-70s degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Linn County Parks reports: White bass good on jigging spoons, jigs; largemouth bass good on plastic baits; catfish good on trotlines, rod and reel.
HILLSDALE: 69 degrees, muddy, 3 feet high. Outlook: Jayhawk Marina reports: Crappies fair to good on minnows, jigs in 6 to 10 feet in brush; walleyes good on crankbaits, jigs with night crawlers on the flats; catfish good on a variety of baits lakewide.
COFFEY COUNTY: 75 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Coffey County reports: Smallmouth bass very good; walleyes fair.
KILL CREEK: 72 degrees, murky, normal. Outlook: Johnson County Park and Recreation District reports: Bass fair on plastic baits along the south shore; catfish fair on dough baits and worms on the island; crappies fair on minnows in deep water; sunfish fair on worms.
GLEN ELDER: High 60s, murky, 3 feet high. Outlook: Wayne’s Sporting Goods reports: Walleyes good on jigs with night crawlers in the sandy beach area and along bluffs; white bass, wipers fair; catfish good on night crawlers at the inflows.
PERRY: 65 degrees, muddy, 14 feet high. Outlook: Don and Tom’s Bait and Tackle reports: Catfish fair in the spillway.
SHAWNEE MISSION: 70 degrees, murky, normal. Outlook: Johnson County Park and Recreation District reports: Bass fair on spinnerbaits, crankbaits early along the dam; catfish fair on liver, dough bait along the north shore; sunfish fair on worms along the banks.
CLINTON: High 60s, murky, 10 feet high. Outlook: Wildlife, Parks and Tourism reports: Crappies poor to fair on minnows, jigs (fish are moving to deeper water); white bass poor to fair trolling crankbaits or casting jigs; channel catfish fair to good on cut bait, night crawlers at the inflows.

Brent’s best bet
This is the weekend to fish for channel catfish. Guides, marina owners and bait shop workers report that the whiskered fish have moved shallow to spawn, and they are biting like crazy. Some options: Wyandotte, Smithville, Hillsdale, Jacomo, Longview, Stockton and Truman.
