Fishing report for May 26
Missouri
TABLE ROCK: 67 degrees, very clear, near normal. Outlook: White River Lodge reports: All species of black bass excellent on topwater lures from 5:30 to 8:30 a.m. and on Ned Rigs during the day; white bass very good on Flutter Spoons on the flats early.
STOCKTON: 65 degrees, clear, 3 feet high. Outlook: Stockton Lake Guide Service reports: Bass fair on jigs, crankbaits in 6 to 10 feet of water off main-lake and secondary points; crappies good on Fick’r Shad suspended in 30 feet of water; walleyes fair to good on jigs with night crawlers off main-lake points; catfish excellent on night crawlers at inflows.
NORFORK: 70 degrees, murky, 3 feet low. Outlook: Bink’s Guide Service reports: Stripers good on topwater lures early and on Bink’s Spoons in 25 to 30 feet of water during the day; bass good on topwater lures.
SMITHVILLE: 68 degrees, stained in the river arm, clearing on the main lake, 1 foot high. Outlook: Burton’s Bait and Tackle reports: Bass poor to fair (a few are being caught on plastic baits, square-bill crankbaits, topwater lures); crappies good on jigs, minnows along banks in the Little Platte River arm; channel catfish good on a variety of baits in the Little Platte River; white bass good on jigging spoons, Road Runners along the face of the dam; walleyes good on jigs with leeches or night crawlers off points.
LAKE OF THE OZARKS: 67 degrees, fairly clear, 1 foot low. Outlook: Gier’s Bass Pro reports: Bass fair on wacky-style plastic worms, jigs, topwater lures halfway back in the coves; crappies fair on jigs, minnows, crankbaits in 20 feet of water.
REED AREA: 67 degrees, clear, full pool. Outlook: Department of Conservation reports: Bass good on soft-plastic baits near cover; channel catfish good on worms near moving water; bluegiulls, redear sunfish good on worms, small jigs.
JACOMO: 66 degrees, murky, slightly high. Outlook: Forty Woods Bait and Tackle reports: Channel catfish good on shad, extra-large minnows off points and in the mouth of coves; bluegills good on waxworms in the shallow coves; crappies fair to good on minnows.
TRUMAN: High 60s, fairly clear, 1.6 feet high. Outlook: Sterett Creek Marina reports: White bass, hybrids good on spinners, jigs on the humps and along dam; crappies fair on jigs 6 to 8 feet down in 20 to 25 feet of water.
BULL SHOALS: 70 degrees, clear, 1 foot low. Outlook: Buck Creek Marina reports: Bass good on plastic baits, jigs grubs, 10-inch plastic worms in 5 to 15 feet of water; crappies fair to good on minnows in the brush; walleyes fair on crankbaits in 20 feet of water on the flats in the evening; catfish fair on night crawlers, cut bait in the shallows.
TANEYCOMO: Clear, one to two generators running. Outlook: Lilleys’ Landing reports: Below Fall Creek: Rainbow trout good on air-inflated night crawlers. Trophy Area: Trout good on Size 14 to 16 scuds trailed with a San Juan worm under strike indicators.
POMME DE TERRE: 70 degrees, stained, 2.5 feet high. Outlook: Nemo Marina reports: Crappies good on minnows in 10 feet of water in brush; bass fair to good on jigs, crankbaits, plastic baits.
BLUE SPRINGS: 65 degrees, murky, 1 foot high. Outlook: Forty Woods Bait and Tackle reports: Crappies good on minnows in deep main-lake brush; hybrids good on chicken liver near the Blow Hole; channel catfish fair to good on cut bait in the coves and at night on live bait along the dam; black bass fair on plastic baits.
LONGVIEW: 66 degrees, murky, 1.8 feet high. Outlook: Longview Marina reports: Crappies fair (but small) on jigs, minnows off the marina docks.
Kansas
WILSON: Mid-60s, clear, 9 feet low. Outlook: Knothead’s reports: Walleyes excellent on jigs with night crawlers in 3 to 16 feet of water; stripers good on jigging spoons in 8 to 12 feet of water at Rocktown area; catfish good on a variety of baits.
MILFORD: Mid-60s, clear, 4 feet high. Outlook: Guide Vic Oertle reports: Wipers good on live bait, Bubbas, jigs in cloudy conditions or at night along face of the dam; smallmouth bass good on tube baits, jigs, crankbaits in rocky shallows; blue catfish very good on cut bait, channel catfish good on worms.
LaCYGNE: 72 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Linn County Parks reports: White bass good on jigging spoons, jigs; largemouth bass good on plastic baits; catfish good.
COFFEY COUNTY: 75 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Coffey County reports: Smallmouth bass excellent on Ned Rigs, jigs along riprap: largemouth bass, wipers fair.
KILL CREEK: 69 degrees, murky, normal. Outlook: Johnson County Park and Recreation District reports: Bass fair on spinnerbaits, crankbaits along the banks; catfish good on liver, dough baits near the marina in the evening.
TUTTLE CREEK: 65 degrees, muddy, 8 feet high. Outlook: Guide Vic Oertle reports: Channel catfish very good on night crawlers at the inflows.
GLEN ELDER: Mid-60s, clear, normal. Outlook: Wayne’s Sporting Goods reports: White bass fair on the south side.
WYANDOTTE: 68 degrees, stained, normal. Outlook: Wyandotte Boats reports: Catfish good on night crawlers, liver; bass good on plastic baits in the shallows.
PERRY: 65 degrees, murky, 7 feet high. Outlook: Wildlife, Parks and Tourism reports: Crappies fair on jig, minnows (fish are scattered due to high water); white bass fair to good on chartreuse jigs, shad imitations in the Delaware River and feeder streams; catfish good on night crawlers, cut bait near inflow.
SHAWNEE MISSION: 68 degrees, 1- to 2-foot clarity, normal. Outlook: Johnson County Park and Recreation District reports: Bass fair on spinnerbaits early along the dam; catfish good on liver, dough bait in the shallows in the evening; crappies fair on minnows, jigs along the bluffs and near cover along north shore.

Brent’s best bet
The big news this week is that the walleye fishing has been excellent at Wilson Lake in central Kansas. Stripers and catfish also are hitting.
