The bass are in trouble now.

Berkley has released the Pitbull on them.

That’s the name of one of the 11 hardbaits that the popular bait company has come out with this year.

Pro fisherman David Fitts, a crankbait specialist, helped design those lures, and the company has come out with some real winners — and some memorable names.

The Pitbull is a squarebill crankbait that has a flash and tail wag that is especially effective when bounced off flood timber, stumps and laydowns.

Others in the line include the Warpig, which is a lipless crankbait, the Wild Thang, a deeper-running crankbait, and the Bad Shad, a crankbait that rises slightly with every pause.

Hey, with names like that, how can they fail?

Each of the 11 baits comes in custom colors. They retail for $6.95 to $7.95.
