Missouri
STOCKTON: 82 degrees, clear, 2 feet high. Outlook: Stockton Lake Guide Service reports: walleyes very good on bottom-bouncer rigs with night crawlers in 20 feet of water; bass fair to good on 10-inch plastic worms, jigs in 20 feet of water in brush; crappies fair to good on minnows in 15 to 25 feet of water in brush; white bass excellent where surfacing in the evening; catfish very good on shad in 10 to 20 feet of water on the flats.
TABLE ROCK: 85 degrees, very clear, 1 foot low. Outlook: White River Lodge reports: bass very good on Zara Spooks, Chuggers early; white bass very good on jigging spoons in 30 feet of water off main-lake points; also trolling Flicker Shad crankbaits off points; catfish good on yo-yos with live panfish in timbered pockets.
NORFORK: 82 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Bink’s Guide Service reports: bass good on Zara Spooks in the first hour of the day; walleyes, stripers good on Bink’s Spoons in 35 to 50 feet of water.
SMITHVILLE: 80 degrees, clear, 1 foot high. Outlook: Burton’s Bait and Tackle reports: black bass good on Senkos, Brush Hogs n the flooded vegetation and topwater lures early; crappies good on minnows, jigs, 8 to 10 feet down in 15 to 20 feet of water in main-lake brush; channel catfish very good on dip bait on the upper end; white bass fair to good on crankbaits, Rooster Tails, Road Runners where fish are surfacing.
JACOMO: 82 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Forty Woods Bait and Tackle reports: channel catfish good on stink bait, cut shad, liver off the main channel and the docks; flathead catfish fair at night on goldfish, extra-large shiners; bluegills good on wax worms, red worms, crickets in the shallows; crappies fair on minnows in main-lake brush; walleyes fair on night crawlers, leeches along the main channel.
BLUE SPRINGS: 80 degrees, clear, 1 foot high. Outlook: Forty Woods Bait and Tackle reports: bass good on spinnerbaits, crankbaits, plastic worms; channel catfish good on live bait in the Jacomo Spillway.
BULL SHOALS: 84 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: 125 Marina reports: smallmouth bass good on topwater lures early and dusk to midnight, also on shad, minnows under lights at night; catfish fair to good on juglines, trotlines with cut bait.
REED AREA: 74 degrees, clear, full pool. Outlook: Department of Conservation reports: black bass good on plastic worms near brush and weeds early and late; channel catfish good on worms, cut bait along weed edges; crappies fair on tube jigs, minnows near deep brush; bluegills good on worms, small jigs under bobbers.
TANEYCOMO: Very clear, heavy generation in the afternoons and evenings. Outlook: Lilleys’ Landing reports: Trophy Area: trout good on No. 16 to No. 18 zebra midge flies, white jigs. Below Fall Creek: trout good on air-inflated night crawlers.
TRUMAN: 80 degrees, stained, 1 1/2 feet high. Outlook: Cody’s Bait and Tackle reports: crappies good on minnows in 15 to 25 feet of water in brush; hybrids fair to good on topwater lures early where fish are chasing shad; catfish poor to fair (fish are scattered). Below the dam: crappies poor to fair.
POMME DE TERRE: 83 degrees, fairly clear, normal. Outlook: Muskie Guide Service reports: crappies fair on jigs, minnows in 20 feet of water in brush; bass fair to good on jigs, plastic worms in 20 feet of water; catfish good on a variety of baits lakewide; walleyes poor to fair.
LAKE OF THE OZARKS: 87 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Gier’s Bass Pro reports: bass fair on Brush Hogs, 10-inch plastic worms in 30 feet of water in main-lake brush; crappies fair on jigs, minnows in 18 to 20 feet of water in brush; catfish fair on juglines with cut bait in 18 to 20 feet of water.
LONGVIEW: 77 degrees, 53-inch clarity, one-half foot high. Outlook: Longview Lake Marina reports: all species poor.
Kansas
MELVERN: 80 degrees, clear, one-half foot high. Outlook: Melvern Marina reports: smallmouth bass excellent on crankbaits, plastic baits, jigs in the coves; catfish excellent on a variety of baits on the flats crappies good on minnows, night crawlers in 15 feet of water in brush.
WILSON: 79 degrees, clear, 5 feet low. Outlook: Knothead’s reports: bass good on minnows, jigs in rocky areas; stripers good on topwater lures in the evening from the dam to Lucas Point; catfish very good on a variety of baits in the coves; walleyes fair on night crawlers on night crawlers in 30 to 40 feet of water.
MILFORD: Low 80s, clear, 3 feet high. Outlook: Rick Dykstra reports: wipers good to excellent on live shad early and late in 18 to 28 feet of water, also trolling swimbaits; bass good on topwater lures, plastic baits early and late; catfish good on cut bait in 14 to 26 feet of water.
EL DORADO: 82 degrees, slightly stained, slightly high. Outlook: Wildlife, Parks and Tourism reports: wipers, white bass good on jigging spoons, jigs off points in the evening; walleyes good on jigs with night crawlers on road beds, along channels in 6 to 22 feet of water; blue catfish fair on cut shad, night crawlers along river channel.
TUTTLE CREEK: 80 degrees, clearing, 3.7 feet high. Outlook: Guide Vic Oertle reports: white bass good on Double W spoons, Bubbas; catfish good on dip bait lakewide.
SHAWNEE MISSION: 84 degrees, murky, normal. Outlook: Johnson County Park and Rec reports: catfish good early on stink bait, sunfish along north shore and near the fish feeder in the south cove; bass, wipers fair on jigs, spinners near Shelters 5 and 6 and along the south shore.
PERRY: 81 degrees, clear, 3 feet high. Outlook: Bait Hut reports: white bass fair to good on jigs, Road Runners, Rooster Tails; catfish good on fresh shad near fish feeders; crappies poor to fair (a few are being caught in 15 to 18 feet of water in brush).
GLEN ELDER: Low 80s, clear, normal. Outlook: Wayne’s Sporting Goods reports: white bass good on Rooster Tails, jigs along the causeway and on the south side; catfish good on a variety of baits lakewide.
POMONA: 83 degrees, slightly stained, 1 foot high. Outlook: Lighthouse Bay Marina reports: wipers good on crankbaits, jigging spoons in the evening where fish are surfacing; crappies fair on jigs in 15 feet of water in brush; catfish fair lakewide.
KILL CREEK: 84 degrees, murky, normal. Outlook: Johnson County Park and Rec reports: crappies fair on minnows at the marina and in deeper water near the flooded timber; bass fair early on spinnerbaits along the banks; catfish good on stink bait, worms off the docks and near the island.
HERITAGE: 86 degrees, murky, normal. Outlook: Johnson County Park and Rec reports: catfish fair on worms, stink bait along west side of dam; crappies fair on spinners along dam; bass fair on spinnerbaits, jigs along the banks in the evening.
COFFEY COUNTY: 100 degrees at the hot-water outlet, 85 degrees midlake, clear, normal. Outlook: Coffey County reports: smallmouth bass; channel catfish good; crappies fair.
CLINTON: 79 degrees, clear, 1 foot high. Outlook: Clinton Marina reports: walleyes fair to good on minnows in 12 to 15 feet of water off marina docks; crappies fair on jigs tipped with minnows in the timber and in the back of coves; catfish fair lakewide.
WYANDOTTE: 81 degrees, very clear, normal. Outlook: Wyandotte Boats reports: largemouth bass good (but mostly small) on plastic baits in the shallows; channel catfish fair on night crawlers, chicken liver at night; wipers fair on chicken liver and crankbaits trolled on the main lake.
LA CYGNE: 92 degrees at the hot-water outlet, low 80s midlake, murky, 1 foot high. Outlook: Linn County Parks reports: all species poor.
HILLSDALE: 82 degrees, slightly murky, normal. Outlook: Jayhawk Marina reports: all species poor.
Other area waters
GRAND (Okla.): 80 degrees, clear, 2 feet high. Outlook: Matt Watson reports: white bass good on Fle Fly Bendable Spoons over humps and dropoffs; crappies good on Flicker Shad in 25 feet of water and along docks; catfish good drifting cut shad in 35 feet of water.
WHITE RIVER (Ark.): Clear, low water in the morning, power generation in the afternoon. Outlook: Gaston’s White River Resort reports: Fly fishing: trout good on midges, emergers while wade fishing in the morning and on black or pink jigs when water is rising. Spin fishing: trout very good drifting live red worms when there is current or anchored near holes when there is low water. Trout also are being caught on Rapalas, Blue Fox spinners, Rooster Tails in low water, also on Countdown Rapalas, Scatter Raps, suspending jerkbaits, Flicker Shad on higher water.
BEAVER LAKE (Ark.): 81 degrees, clear, 1 foot low. Outlook: Bailey’s Guide Service reports: stripers good trolling live shad under balloons or umbrella rigs with white grubs in 10 to 60 feet of water on the main lake, also trolling with downriggers with Rapalas, Bomber 15A and 16A crankbaits, or spoons.

Brent’s best bet
Melvern Lake has produced some hot fishing this week despite the cooldown. The fishing for smallmouth bass and catfish has been excellent. And crappie fishing has been good.
