Missouri

TABLE ROCK: Mid-60s, clear, near normal. Outlook: White River Lodge reports: All species of black bass excellent on small Whopper Ploppers in the major creeks and on green-pumpkin Baby Brush Hogs or plastic lizards on Carolina rigs along pea-gravel banks, and on Ned rigs with peanut butter and jelly-colored Zero worms.

NORFORK: 68 degrees, clear, 1 foot low. Outlook: White bass, wipers, smallmouth bass good on Zara Spooks along banks.

REED AREA: 68 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Department of Conservation reports: Bass good on plastic baits near brush in spawning areas; crappies good on tube jigs, minnows in brush along spawning banks; bluegills, redear sunfish good on worms, jigs.

SMITHVILLE: 64 degrees, murky, 1 foot low. Outlook: Burton’s Bait and Tackle reports: Bass good on jigs, soft-plastic baits, jerkbaits in the shallows in the coves; crappies good on jigs, minnows along the spawning banks on the main lake (the males have moved to the banks); channel catfish good on night crawlers, liver in the shallows.

JACOMO: 64 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Forty Woods Bait and Tackle reports: Crappies good on jigs, minnows along the spawning banks; bass fair on spinnerbaits, shallow-running crankbaits, large minnows in shallows; channel catfish good on night crawlers, where there is runoff entering the lake.

LONGVIEW: 63 degrees, murky, normal. Outlook: Longview Marina reports: Crappies good on jigs, minnows along the banks and off the marina docks; bass good on spinnerbaits, crankbaits, plastic baits in the shallows in the coves; channel catfish good on prepared baits, minnows off the marina docks; walleyes fair on night crawlers, minnows on the flats.

TRUMAN: 64 degrees, fairly clear, 1 foot low. Outlook: Cody’s Guide Service reports: Crappies fair to good on jigs, minnows out from spawning banks; catfish good on cut shad in 15 to 30 feet of water. Below the dam: white bass, hybrids, crappies fair on jigs.

BULL SHOALS: Mid-60s, clear, near normal. Outlook: Buck Creek Marina reports: Bass good on topwater lures, grubs, spinnerbaits off main-lake points; crappies good on minnows in brush; walleyes fair on night crawlers in 20 to 25 feet of water.

STOCKTON: 64 degrees, clear, 2 feet high. Outlook: Stockton Lake Guide Service reports: Crappies good on jigs, minnows from the shallows to 16 feet of water; walleyes good on jigs with night crawlers in 15 to 20 feet of water off main-lake points; bass fair on jigs, plastic along spawning banks.

POMME DE TERRE: 65 degrees, clearing, 2  1/2 feet high. Outlook: Muskie Guide Service reports: Bass very good on plastic bait along spawning banks; crappies fair to good on jigs, minnows along spawning banks.

BLUE SPRINGS: 64 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Forty Woods Bait and Tackle reports: Crappies good on jigs, minnows along brushy banks; channel catfish fair on worms where runoff is entering the lake; bluegills fair to good on crickets, wax worms along rocky banks and the dam; bass fair on spinnerbaits, crankbaits in the shallows.

LAKE OF THE OZARKS: Mid-60s, clear, degrees, 3 feet low. Outlook: Gier’s Bass Pro reports: Crappies good on jigs minnows in 2 to 6 feet of water along spawning areas; bass fair on spinnerbaits, jig and pig in the shallows; catfish good on cut bait along dam.

TANEYCOMO: Clear, low power generation. Outlook: Lilleys’ Landing reports: Below Fall Creek: Rainbow trout fair on night crawlers, PowerBait.

Kansas

COFFEY COUNTY: Low 70s on the main lake, fairly clear, normal. Outlook: Coffey County reports: smallmouth bass excellent, largemouth bass good on plastic baits along rocky banks; white bass, wipers good on spinners.

HILLSDALE: 61 degrees, clear, 1  1/2 feet low. Outlook: Jayhawk Marina reports: White bass good on minnows along dam; crappies fair to good on jigs, minnows along banks; bass good on crankbaits in coves and along the dam; walleyes poor to fair on night crawlers; catfish fair on cut bait.

LaCYGNE: 65 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Linn County Parks reports: Crappies, white bass good on jigs, minnows (fish are staging before spawn); catfish fair along banks.

MELVERN: 61 degrees, clear, 1 foot high. Outlook: Melvern Lake Marina reports: Crappies fair on jigs, minnows in 2 to 10 feet of water along spawning banks; smallmouth bass fair on plastic baits along rocky banks; channel catfish fair on cut bait.

WILSON: Low 60s degrees, clear, 10 feet low. Outlook: Knothead’s reports: Walleyes good on jigs with night crawlers in 20 to 30 feet of water; bass good in shallow coves.

WYANDOTTE: 64 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Wyandotte Boats reports: Crappies good on jigs, minnows in 8 feet of water along spawning areas; channel catfish fair on liver, prepared baits, night crawlers.

MILFORD: Low 60s, clear, normal. Outlook: Guide Vic Oertle reports: Crappies fair on jigs, minnows in the evening; smallmouth bass good on plastic baits good along rocky banks; catfish good on cut bait on the north end.

CLINTON: Low 60s, very clear, 1 foot high. Outlook: Clinton Marina reports: crappies fair on jigs, minnows out from spawning banks.

TUTTLE CREEK: Low 60s, clear, normal. Outlook: Guide Vic Oertle reports: Crappies fair on jigs, minnows along spawning banks; catfish good on cut bait.

PERRY: Low 60s, fairly clear, 1 foot low. Outlook: Don and Tom’s Bait and Tackle reports: Crappies fair to good on jigs, minnows in Rock Creek, near Slough Creek Bridge and the marina.

SHAWNEE MISSION: 66 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Johnson County Park and Recreation District reports: Crappies good on minnows, jigs along bluff and in brush on the north shore; catfish fair on liver, dough bait in the shallows in the evening; bass fair on spinnerbaits along the south shore.

KILL CREEK: 66 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Johnson County Park and Recreation District reports: Bass fair on spinnerbaits, crankbaits along the banks; catfish fair on liver, dough bait near the marina in the evening; crappies fair on minnows in the evening.

GLEN ELDER: Mid-60s, fairly clear, 2 feet low. Outlook: Wayne’s Sporting Goods reports: catfish, walleyes fair.

EL DORADO: 63 degrees, fairly clear, near normal. Outlook: Wildlife, Parks and Tourism reports: White bass fair to good on crankbaits, Rat-L-Traps, jigs along the dam and along causeways; crappies fair on jigs, staging along rocky banks.

POMONA: Mid-60s, murky, 1 foot high. Outlook: Lighthouse Bay Marina reports: Crappies fair on jigs, minnows along banks; channel catfish fair.

Brent’s best bet

The fishing for largemouth, smallmouth and Kentucky bass has been excellent at Table Rock Lake. The major creek arms are producing the best fishing.
