Missouri

NORFORK: 56 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Bink’s Guide Service reports: stripers good on stickbaits along banks at night; bass good on crankbaits, spinnerbaits along banks; crappies good on jigs in 10 to 15 feet of water in brush; walleyes fair to good on stickbaits, grubs in rocky areas.

TABLE ROCK: 52 to 60 degrees, fairly clear, 0.8 feet high. Outlook: White River Lodge reports: black bass very good on swimbaits on  1/4 -ounce jig heads in the coves and pockets; crappies fair on jigs in the shallow creeks.

TRUMAN: 51 degrees, murky, 6 inches high. Outlook: Sterett Creek Marina reports: bass good on jerkbaits, spinnerbaits; crappies fair on jigs in the brush. Below the dam: all species poor to fair.

POMME DE TERRE: 50 degrees, fairly clear, normal. Outlook: Muskie Guide Service reports: bass good on jig and pig, spinnerbaits, crankbaits in the shallows; crappies fair to good on jigs, minnows in 15 feet of water around docks and in brush; muskies poor to fair on in the shallows.

BULL SHOALS: Low 50s, clear, 6 inches high. Outlook: Buck Creek Boat Dock reports: bass good on jerkbaits, crankbaits in 5 to 15 feet of water in the brush off the points and on Alabama rigs in 25 feet of water; crappies poor to fair on jigs in 25 feet of water in brush.

STOCKTON: 52 degrees, clear, 1 foot high. Outlook: Stockton Lake Guide Service reports: bass good on jerkbaits, Wiggle Warts in 4 to 12 feet of water off steep main-lake points; crappies fair on jigs in 3 to 5 feet of water; walleyes fair to good on jerkbaits off main-lake points at night.

JACOMO: 52 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Forty Woods Bait and Tackle reports: crappies fair on minnows early and jigs toward dusk in the coves; black bass fair to good on crankbaits, minnows in the shallows; channel catfish fair on worms off points.

TANEYCOMO: Stained, 2 units running most of day. Outlook: Lilleys’ Landing reports: rainbow trout good drifting white jigs, shad imitations and air-inflated night crawlers or casting spoons. Trophy Area: trout good on No. 16 scuds or midges.

SMITHVILLE: 50 degrees, fairly clear, 1 foot low. Outlook: Burton’s Bait and Tackle reports: bass fair to good on suspending stickbaits, spinnerbaits in the shallows; crappies fair on jigs off the marina docks and in main-lake brush; channel catfish good on a variety of baits off the shallow points.

LAKE OF THE OZARKS: 46 degrees, murky, 6 feet low. Outlook: Gier’s Bass Pro reports: crappies fair on jigs suspended in the brush; bass fair on jigs, crankbaits, spinnerbaits off points; catfish fair on cut bait in 25 to 45 feet of water in cuts.

REED AREA: 57 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Department of Conservation reports: bass fair on plastic baits near brush; channel catfish fair on cut bait, worms; crappies good on tube jigs, minnows near brush, along old weed lines; trout good on PowerBait, small jigs.

LONGVIEW: 52 degrees, murky, near normal. Outlook: Longview Marina reports: crappies fair on jigs off the marina docks; black bass fair on crankbaits in the shallows.

BLUE SPRINGS: Low 50s, stained, normal. Outlook: Forty Woods Bait and Tackle reports: crappies good on minnows, jigs in the shallows (fish are in prespawn stage); black bass fair to good on suspending stickbaits, crankbaits and minnows while crappie fishing; bluegills good on crickets redworms, waxworms in rocky areas.

Kansas

WILSON: Low 50s, clear, 10 feet low. Outlook: Knothead’s reports: walleyes good on jerkbaits, crankbaits along dam and off Lucas Point at night; smallmouth, largemouth bass good on jigs, live bait in the Otoe area; stripers fair to good on bucktail jigs, spoons in the Otoe area and Hell Creek.

COFFEY COUNTY: 80 degrees at the hot-water outlet, 60s on the main lake, murky, normal. Outlook: Coffey County reports: largemouth, smallmouth bass good; white bass very good; wipers fair.

WYANDOTTE: 54 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Wyandotte Boats reports: trout good on a variety of baits; channel catfish very good at night on shad, liver, night crawlers off deep points; bass fair to good on plastic baits in the shallows; white bass, wipers good trolling crankbaits on the main lake.

LaCYGNE: 60s, clear, 1 foot high. Outlook: Linn County Parks reports: bass fair to good on crankbaits, jerkbaits, jigs in the shallows; white bass good on jigging spoons; crappies fair.

MILFORD: High 40s, clear, 1 foot low. Outlook: Guide Vic Oertle reports: smallmouth bass fair to good on jerkbaits, plastic baits; wipers fair to good on jigging spoons in 20 to 25 feet of water; crappies poor to fair on jigs; blue catfish fair to good on cut shad on the north end.

PERRY: 48 degrees on main lake, dingy, 1 foot low. Outlook: Don and Tom’s Bait and Tackle reports: smallmouth bass fair to good on the north end; catfish good on shad in the Delaware River.

SHAWNEE MISSION: 50 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Johnson County Park and Recreation District reports: trout fair on spinners, dough bait near the dam, in deeper water and near Shelter 12; crappies fair on minnows in deep water; bass fair on jigs across from the marina.

KILL CREEK: 52 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Johnson County Park and Recreation District reports: trout fair (but scattered) on PowerBait, spinners; bass fair on spinnerbaits along the banks.

POMONA: Low 50s, fairly clear, 1 foot low. Outlook: Lighthouse Bay Marina reports: crappies good on jigs in the brush in the Dragoon arm.

EL DORADO: 50 degrees, clear, 6 inches low. Outlook: Wildlife, Parks and Tourism reports: crappies fair to good on jigs in 14 to 18 feet of water in brush; walleyes poor to fair (a few are being caught on jigs out from spawning areas).

CLINTON: 54 degrees, fairly clear, near normal. Outlook: Wildlife, Parks and Tourism reports: crappies fair on jigs in brush; walleyes, saugers fair to good on crankbaits at night.

MELVERN: 46 degrees, clear, 1  1/2 feet low. Outlook: Melvern Lake Marina reports: crappies, walleyes fair on Bobby Garland jigs, grubs off the marina docks; walleyes fair on stickbaits along the dam at dusk; crappies fair on jigs in the brush piles at west end of lake.

GLEN ELDER: 51 degrees, clear, 2 feet low. Outlook: Wayne’s Sporting Goods reports: white bass fair to good on jigs along causeway on the west end; walleyes poor to fair on twisters out from dam.

TUTTLE CREEK: High 40s, clearing, 2 feet low. Outlook: Guide Vic Oertle reports: crappies fair to good on jigs, minnows in 15 feet of water in the brush.

HILLSDALE: 52 degrees, murky, 1  1/2 feet low. Outlook: Jayhawk Marina reports: crappies poor to fair on jigs off the docks; walleyes poor to fair.

The early-season fishing at Norfork Lake continues to impress, with stripers, bass and crappies providing plenty of bites.
