Missouri

NORFORK: 55 degrees, stained, 6 inches high. Outlook: Bink’s Guide Service reports: black bass excellent on shallow-running crankbaits along bank; stripers excellent at night on stickbaits along the banks; crappies excellent on jigs along banks; walleyes good on stickbaits in the river.

TABLE ROCK: 52 to 56 degrees, fairly clear, 1.6 feet high. Outlook: White River Lodge reports: black bass excellent on Alabama rigs, jerkbaits, crankbaits along windy, ledge-rock banks; crappies fair to good on jigs in Long Creek arm; white bass good to very good on Shad Raps, Alabama rigs, crankbaits in the rivers.

TRUMAN: 55 degrees, murky, 1 foot high. Outlook: Cody’s Bait and Tackle reports: crappies fair to good on jigs, minnows in the Clinton area and Tebo arm; catfish good on cut shad. Below the dam: crappies, walleyes, white bass fair on jigs.

BULL SHOALS: Low 50s, clear, 0.7 feet high. Outlook: Buck Creek Boat Dock reports: bass good on Alabama rigs, jerkbaits, crankbaits in 5 to 15 feet of water in the brush off the points; crappies fair on minnows in 10 to 20 feet of water in the brush; white bass fair on spinners in the creeks; catfish fair on trotlines.

STOCKTON: 48 to 54 degrees, clear, 1 foot high. Outlook: Stockton Lake Guide Service reports: walleyes good on jerkbaits from sunset to dark and early in the morning in rocky areas; white bass good on white jigs in the rivers; crappies fair on jigs in the creeks; black bass very good on jigs, jerkbaits in 6 to 12 feet of water off main-lake and secondary points.

JACOMO: 52 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Forty Woods Bait and Tackle reports: crappies good to very good on minnows early and jigs toward dusk in the shallows in the coves (fish are in prespawn stage); black bass fair to good on crankbaits, minnows in the shallows; channel catfish fair on worms off points; white bass fair to good on small jigging spoons where shad are surfacing early.

TANEYCOMO: Stained, variable power generation. Outlook: Lilleys’ Landing reports: rainbow trout good on  1/8 -ounce white or gray jigs. Trophy Area: trout excellent on a variety of flies.

SMITHVILLE: 52 degrees, fairly clear, 1 foot low. Outlook: Burton’s Bait and Tackle reports: bass fair to good on suspending stickbaits, spinnerbaits in the shallows; crappies fair to good on jigs off the marina docks; channel catfish good on night crawlers, dip baits on the north end; white bass fair on spinners, Road Runners in the Little Platte arm.

LAKE OF THE OZARKS: 43 degrees, muddy, 7 feet low. Outlook: Gier’s Bass Pro reports: crappies fair on jigs suspended in the brush in the Gravois and Indian Creek arms; blue catfish fair on cut bait in back of coves.

REED AREA: 57 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Department of Conservation reports: bass fair on plastic baits near brush; channel catfish fair on cut bait, worms; crappies good on tube jigs, minnows near brush, along old weed lines; trout good on PowerBait, small jigs.

LONGVIEW: 52 degrees, murky, near normal. Outlook: Longview Marina reports: crappies good to excellent on jigs in the Mouse Creek arm and off the marina docks; black bass fair on crankbaits in the shallows; catfish fair on liver, worms in the coves.

BLUE SPRINGS: Low 50s, stained, normal. Outlook: Forty Woods Bait and Tackle reports: crappies very good on minnows, jigs in the shallows (fish are in prespawn stage); black bass fair to good on suspending stickbaits, crankbaits and minnows while crappie fishing; bluegills good on crickets redworms, waxworms in rocky areas.

POMME DE TERRE: 50 degrees, fairly clear, 6 inches high. Outlook: Muskie Guide Service reports: crappies fair on jigs, minnows in brush; bass fair on jerkbaits, spinnerbaits; walleyes poor to fair on jerkbaits in rocky areas.

Kansas

COFFEY COUNTY: 77 degrees at the hot-water outlet, 60s on the main lake, murky, normal. Outlook: Coffey County reports: smallmouth bass very good on finesse baits, white bass very good on jigging spoons, spinners in the shallows; largemouth bass, crappies good.

WYANDOTTE: 56 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Wyandotte Boats reports: trout good on a variety of baits; channel catfish very good at night on night crawlers, shad off deep points; bass fair to good on plastic baits in the shallows.

LaCYGNE: 60s, clear, normal. Outlook: Linn County Parks reports: white bass fair on jigging spoons at hot-water outlet; crappies fair to good on jigs along the outlet gate and on the north end; black bass fair on crankbaits.

WILSON: Low 50s, clear, 10 feet low. Outlook: Knothead’s reports: largemouth, white bass good in Marshall Cove and off Lucas Point; walleyes fair on stickbaits in the evening along the dam.

MILFORD: High 40s, clear, 1 foot low. Outlook: Guide Vic Oertle reports: wipers good on Double W spoons in 25 to 30 feet of water north of Farnum Creek; walleyes poor to fair (a few are being caught along the dam); blue catfish excellent on shad on the north end.

PERRY: 48 degrees on main lake, dingy, 1 foot low. Outlook: Don and Tom’s Bait and Tackle reports: smallmouth bass fair to good on the north end; catfish good on shad in the Delaware River.

SHAWNEE MISSION: 51 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Johnson County Park and Recreation District reports: trout fair early on PowerBait, spinners along north shore and dam; crappies fair on minnows in deep water; bass fair to good on bottom-bouncing baits along midlake dropoffs.

KILL CREEK: 51 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Johnson County Park and Rec District reports: trout fair on PowerBait near the marina, along the north side and along the dam; bass fair on spinnerbaits along the banks.

POMONA: Low 50s, fairly clear, 1  1/4 feet low. Outlook: Lighthouse Bay Marina reports: crappies good on jigs in the brush in the Dragoon arm.

EL DORADO: 50 degrees, clear, 6 inches low. Outlook: Wildlife, Parks and Tourism reports: crappies fair to good on jigs in 14 to 18 feet of water in brush; walleyes poor to fair (a few are being caught on jigs out from spawning areas).

CLINTON: 50 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Clinton Lake Marina reports: crappies fair on jigs in 6 to 10 feet of water off the marina docks; walleyes poor to fair (a few are being caught along the dam at night).

MELVERN: 46 degrees, clear, 1  1/2 feet low. Outlook: Melvern Lake Marina reports: walleyes fair on Bobby Garland jigs, grubs off the marina docks; crappies fair on jigs, minnows in 8 to 10 feet of water in the brush off the docks and in the main lake.

HILLSDALE: 52 degrees, murky, 1  1/2 feet low. Outlook: Jayhawk Marina reports: crappies very good on minnows in 10 to 15 feet of water; walleyes poor to fair.

GLEN ELDER: 51 degrees, clear, 2 feet low. Outlook: Wayne’s Sporting Goods reports: white bass fair to good on jigs along causeway on the west end; walleyes poor to fair on twisters out from dam.

TUTTLE CREEK: High 40s, clearing, 2 feet low. Outlook: Guide Vic Oertle reports: all species poor.

Brent’s best bet

The unseasonably warm weather has the fish in the Ozarks stirring. Guides and resort owners are reporting excellent fishing at Norfork Lake for stripers, black bass and crappies.
