Missouri

NORFORK: 48 degrees, clear, near normal. Outlook: Bink’s Guide Service reports: stripers good trolling or spooning at the mouths of the rivers; bass very good on Wiggle Warts along the banks.

TRUMAN: 43 degrees, murky, 6 inches high. Outlook: Cody’s Bait and Tackle reports: crappies good on minnows, jigs 4 to 6 feet down in 10 feet of water in the brush in the creeks; catfish good on cut shad. Below the dam: catfish, walleyes poor to fair.

BULL SHOALS: Mid- to upper-40s, clear, normal. Outlook: 125 Marina reports: bass good on Alabama rigs in 8 to 10 feet of water in the brush along banks in coves. Buck Creek Marina reports: white bass fair to good on spinners, jigs in major creeks.

TANEYCOMO: Stained, 2 units running. Outlook: Lilleys’ Landing reports: rainbow trout fair to good on  1/8 -ounce dark-colored jigs, on inflated night crawlers below Fall Creek, trolling Shad Raps below Branson Landing, and on gray scuds, black Wooly Buggers in the Trophy Area.

TABLE ROCK: 46 degrees, clear in the creek arms, dingy on the main lake, normal. Outlook: White River Lodge reports: black bass fair to good on Spro RK Crawlers along windy banks and on Alabama rigs when wind isn’t blowing.

SMITHVILLE: Low 40s, clear, 1  1/2 feet low. Outlook: Burton’s Bait and Tackle reports: crappies good on jigs in the river arms along channel edges.

LAKE OF THE OZARKS: 43 degrees, dingy, 5 feet low. Outlook: Gier’s Bass Pro reports: crappies fair on jigs suspended in the brush; catfish fair on cut bait in 6 to 10 feet of water in back of coves.

REED AREA: 43 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Department of Conservation reports: bass fair on plastic baits near the brush; channel catfish fair on cut bait, worms; crappies fair on tube jigs, minnows near brush and along weed lines; trout fair on PowerBait, small jigs.

JACOMO: 41 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Forty Woods Bait and Tackle reports: crappies good on jigging spoons off the marina dock and in main-lake brush; largemouth bass fair to good on minnows, crankbaits off points.

LONGVIEW: 41 degrees, 24-inch clarity, near normal. Outlook: Longview Marina reports: crappies good on jigs (brown and chartreuse, and purple and yellow have been good color patterns) off the marina docks.

BLUE SPRINGS: Low 40s, stained, normal. Outlook: Forty Woods Bait and Tackle reports: crappies good on ice jigs, jigging spoons, small minnows off docks; bass fair on minnows off docks; bluegills fair on wax worms, micro jigs off the docks.

POMME DE TERRE: 44 degrees, murky, normal. Outlook: Muskie Guide Service reports: bass good on jerkbaits in 5 feet of water; crappies fair on jigs in 15 to 20 feet of water in the brush; walleyes poor to fair.

STOCKTON: Low 50s, clear, 2 feet high. Outlook: Stockton Lake Guide Service reports: crappies fair on jigs in 20 feet of water under the schools of shad and in brush; bass fair on Alabama rigs at the mouths of the coves; walleyes fair to good on jerkbaits in evenings and at night on main-lake points.

Kansas

MILFORD: Mid-40s, fairly clear, 1 foot low. Outlook: Guide Vic Oertle reports: wipers good on spoons, Bubbas in 25 to 30 feet of water in the channels north of Farnum Creek; blue catfish excellent on shad along the causeway and on the north end of the lake.

PERRY: Low 40s, fairly clear, 1 foot low. Outlook: Don and Tom’s Bait and Tackle reports: catfish fair on shad along the windy banks north of the Highway 92 bridge.

COFFEY COUNTY: 77 degrees at the hot-water outlet, 59 degrees on the main lake, murky, normal. Outlook: Coffey County reports: largemouth, smallmouth bass fair; white bass fair to good.

POMONA: Low 40s, fairly clear, 1  1/4 feet low. Outlook: Lighthouse Bay Marina reports: crappies good on jigs in the brush in the Dragoon arm, poor to fair on jigs off the docks.

EL DORADO: 43 degrees, clear, 6 inches low. Outlook: Wildlife, Parks and Tourism reports: crappies fair to good on jigs from sunrise to 10 a.m. in 14 to 18 feet of water in brush.

CLINTON: Mid-40s, clear, normal. Outlook: Clinton Lake Marina reports: crappies fair to good on jigs in 15 to 20 feet of water in brush.

MELVERN: 43 degrees, clear, 1  1/2 feet low. Outlook: Melvern Lake Marina reports: crappies fair on jigs in deep brush on main lake.

WILSON: High 40s, clear, 10 feet low. Outlook: Knothead’s reports: all species poor to fair.

HILLSDALE: 43 degrees, murky, 1  1/2 feet low. Outlook: Jayhawk Marina reports: all species poor.

GLEN ELDER: High 40s, fairly clear, 1 foot low. Outlook: Wayne’s Sporting Goods reports: all species poor.

TUTTLE CREEK: Low 40s, murky, 2 feet low. Outlook: Guide Vic Oertle reports: all species poor.

LA CYGNE: 50s, clear, normal. Outlook: Linn County Park reports: all species poor.

Brent’s best bet

The big news this week is that the large blue catfish are stirring at Milford Lake. Several stringers of cats weighing more than 50 pounds have been reported. The best fishing has taken place on the north end of the lake.
