If you want to hunt the Fort Riley Army base in northeast Kansas, you’ll have to take care of some details. Here are the steps that must be taken before you can use the open recreational areas.

▪ You must register by going to the website fortriley.isportsman.net. There you click on registration, then Register for User ID and follow the steps. Once you are assigned a user ID number and pin number, you will use those to check in and check out each time you hunt on Fort Riley.

▪ You will need to register your firearms before bringing them onto Fort Riley. This can be done at the gate.

▪ All hunters are required to have any Kansas licenses, tags and permits required by the state. Fort Riley access permits also are required of hunters ages 16 to 64. Those permits can be purchased online at the website ks.wildlifelicense.com. Licenses also can be purchased over the counter at area sporting-goods departments and from Monday through Thursday at the Fort Riley Environmental Division office, located at Building 407, Pershing Court.

▪ A short form must also be filled out to register vehicles.
