Missouri
BULL SHOALS: 67 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: 125 Marina reports: smallmouth, largemouth bass excellent on spinnerbaits, jigs during the day and early on topwater lures off main-lake points; catfish fair.
SMITHVILLE: 64 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Burton’s Bait and Tackle reports: bass fair to good on spinnerbaits, square-bill crankbaits in coves and along laydowns, stumps, brush in shallows; crappies good on minnows, jigs 7 to 8 feet down in main-lake brush; white bass fair on Rooster Tails, small crankbaits along windy points and jetties; channel catfish good on cut bait, night crawlers in the back of coves and in the shallows on flats.
LAKE OF THE OZARKS: 69 degrees, clear, 1 foot low. Outlook: Gier’s Bass Pro reports: bass fair on jigs, soft-plastic baits off main-lake points; crappies fair but scattered in brush in 12 to 15 feet of water.
LONGVIEW: 62 degrees, 38-inch clarity, 1 foot low. Outlook: Longview Lake Marina reports: crappies good on jigs, minnows in the main-lake brush and off the marina docks; walleyes fair to good on night crawlers trolling on the flats; channel catfish good on chicken livers, night crawlers off the marina docks.
NORFORK: 71 degrees, murky, one-half-foot high. Outlook: Bink’s Guide Service reports: crappies good on white or pink one-quarter-ounce Bink’s spoons in 28 to 30 feet of water in Corps of Engineers brush piles; bass fair on topwater lures early; stripers fair on one-half-ounce Bink’s Spoons in 40 to 50 feet of water.
JACOMO: 62 degrees, slightly stained, normal. Outlook: Forty Woods Bait and Tackle reports: crappies good on jigs, minnows off the docks and in Sailboat Cove; bluegills good on redworms, waxworms off the marina docks; channel catfish poor to fair (a few are being caught on night crawlers); white bass good on swimbaits, Rooster Tails and on crankbaits trolling; walleyes poor to fair (a few are being caught on crankbaits trolling).

Outlook: Forty Woods Bait and Tackle reports: crappies fair to good (but mostly small) on jigs, minnows off the marina docks and in main-lake brush; hybrids good on swimbaits near the Blow Hole; bluegills good on redworms, waxworms; largemouth bass fair to good on shad imitations, minnows.
REED AREA: 60 degrees, clear, full pool. Outlook: Department of Conservation reports: black bass fair on plastic baits near brush; channel catfish fair on cut bait, chicken livers; crappies fair on tube jigs near brush; bluegills and redear sunfish fair on worms under bobbers in shady areas.
STOCKTON: 64 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Stockton Lake Guide Service reports: crappies fair on minnows, jigs in 10 to 20 feet of water in brush; walleyes fair on jigs with night crawlers or trolling crankbaits.

PERRY: 63 degrees, fairly clear, 1 foot high. Outlook: Don and Tom’s Bait and Tackle reports: white bass good on Minis on the main lake; saugers fair on jigs with night crawlers on flats; smallmouth bass poor to fair in rocky areas; catfish fair lakewide.
CLINTON: 63 degrees, clear, 1 foot high. Outlook: Clinton Lake Marina reports: walleyes, wipers fair to good on crankbaits, jigs on the mainlake; crappies poor to fair (a few small ones are being caught off the docks).
WYANDOTTE: 62 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Wyandotte Boats reports: wipers good trolling crankbaits on the main lake; bass good on plastic bait along weed edges, rocky areas; crappies fair on minnows in 12 to 15 feet of water on the main lake; channel catfish good on minnows in the shallows.

LA CYGNE: High 70s on the main lake, clear, 1 foot low. Outlook: Linn County Park reports: bass fair on spinnerbaits, plastic baits in the shallows; white bass good (but small) on white jigs, Rooster Tails at the hot-water outlet.
KILL CREEK: 63 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Johnson County Park and Recreation District reports: Trout were stocked Wednesday and lake is closed to fishing until fall season opens at 5 a.m. Saturday. Winter hours start Sunday and the park will open at 7:30 a.m.

HILLSDALE: 62 degrees, slightly murky, fairly clear, 1 foot high. Outlook: Jayhawk Marina reports: all species poor.

▪ GRAND (OKLA.): 65 degrees, clear, 1/2 -foot high. Outlook: GrandFishingReport.com reports: white bass good on Go-Go Minnows, Rooster Tails off windy points in Honey Creek and Elk Creek arms; crappies good on Go-Go Minnows, Bobby Garland jigs in 10 feet of water in the brush and along docks; catfish good on rod and reel and juglines with cut bait.
▪ WHITE RIVER (ARK.): Clear, five units running most of the day. Outlook: Gaston’s White River Resort reports: Fly fishing: trout good on red or pink San Juan worms, pink bead-head jigs, egg flies (peach and steelhead orange have been the best colors). Spin fishing: trout good on redworms, night crawlers, Glow Worms, 1/8 th ounce black or brown jigs.

FOUNTAIN GROVE: 4,000 ducks (mostly pintails, blue-winged and green-winged teal). Good water conditions. Good to excellent moist-soil food on the east side.
SWAN LAKE: 2,553 ducks (mostly mallards, pintails, wood ducks green-winged teal); 130 geese.
SQUAW CREEK: 47,685 ducks (23,220 pintails; 15,130 teal; 5,940 ring-necks; 1,360 mallards; with the rest a mix); 445 white-fronted geese, 190 Canada Geese.
NODAWAY VALLEY: 7,500 ducks (mostly green-winged teal, pintails, gadwalls and wigeons).
BOB BROWN: 7,000 ducks (mostly wigeons, gadwalls and mallards).
GRAND PASS: 22,000 ducks. 15 positions will be hunted, 11 of them already reserved through Quick Draw.
FOUR RIVERS: 7,600 ducks (hallf green-winged and blue-winged teal, 20 percent mallards). Fair habitat conditions, variable food conditions due to earlier flooding.
SCHELL-OSAGE: 3,000 ducks (a mix of green-winged teal, blue-winged teal and pintails, gadwalls). All pools have good water, but poor food conditions due to earlier flooding.
MONTROSE: Low waterfowl numbers.
SMITHVILLE: 3,000 teal, 500 big ducks.
OTTER SLOUGH: 16,700 ducks (mostly pintails, teal); 75 Canada geese.
DUCK CREEK: Low waterfowl numbers.
Kansas
CHEYENNE BOTTOMS: 15,000 to 30,000 ducks (mostly teal, shovelers, mallards). Hunting has been fair to good.
MARAIS DES CYGNES: Very few waterfowl. Water conditions are improving. Some pumping under way.
NEOSHO: low waterfowl numbers. Very little huntable water. Poor conditions. Some pumping under way.
FLINT HILLS: 220 ducks (mostly teal); 120 dark geese. Habitat is poor due to flooding earlier in year.
PERRY: 1,500 ducks (mostly teal); no geese. Hunting outlook is poor to fair. Habitat is poor to fair due to earlier flooding.
TUTTLE CREEK: 2,500 ducks (85 percent pintails). Habitat is poor due to earlier flooding.
MILFORD: 500 ducks (mostly pintails, teal, shovelers).
QUIVIRA: Less than 15,000 ducks (mix of species); 1,000 dark geese; 1,500 sandhill cranes.
MELVERN: 150 teal and pintails. Water is being pumped into marshes.
CLINTON: 750 ducks (mostly teal, wood ducks); 200 to 300 Canada geese. Water is being pumped into marshes. Good water conditions in marshes.
HILLSDALE: Few waterfowl in the wildlife area.Water conditions fair to good, habitat very good except Brown’s Marsh, which has been drained for maintenance.
KIRWIN: 4,500 ducks (half divers, half dabblers). 3,200 Canada geese; 4,000 sandhill cranes. Hunting has been fair.
GLEN ELDER: 4,000 dabblers, 1,800 divers; 3,300 geese (80 percent Canadas). Some mud flats. Hunting outlook is fair.
McPHERSON WETLANDS: 1,075 ducks (half teal); 43 white-fronted geese. Water is fair to good, habitat is very good.
JAMESTOWN: 2,000 ducks (green-winged teal, pintails, gadwalls). Water conditions good, habitat fair. Hunting has been good.

Brent’s best bet
The fall bass fishing has turned on at Bull Shoals Lake. The action for largemouth and smallmouth bass is rated as excellent this week, with fish being caught on spinnerbaits, jigs and topwater lures.
