Fishing report for Sept. 4
▪ STOCKTON: 78 degrees, clear, 2 feet high. Outlook: Stockton Lake Guide Service reports: white bass excellent on Rooster Tails early and late where fish are surfacing on points and flats; catfish very good on shad in 10 to 18 feet of water on flats; walleyes fair on night crawlers in 10 to 12 feet of water off points; crappies fair to good on minnows in 20 feet of water in brush piles; bass fair on large plastic worms in brush.
▪ SMITHVILLE: 76 degrees, clear, one-half-foot high. Outlook: Burton’s Bait and Tackle reports: crappies good on minnows 10 feet down in 20 feet of water in main-lake brush; black bass good on Brush Hogs, square-bill crankbaits along laydowns, stumps, brush in cuts; channel catfish good on dip baits in coves; white bass fair early and late where fish are surfacing.
▪ TRUMAN: 79 degrees, clear, 1 foot high. Outlook: Cody’s Bait and Tackle reports: white bass good on crankbaits, live shad along humps and points; catfish good on cut shad. Below the dam: crappies good early on jigs, minnows.
▪ NORFORK: 80 degrees, stained 12.8 feet high. Outlook: Bink’s Guide Service reports: walleyes excellent on one-half ounce Bink’s Spoons in deep water on main lake; bass good on white Bink’s Spoons in 35 feet of water.
▪ JACOMO: High 70s, clearing, normal. Outlook: Forty Woods Bait and Tackle reports: flathead catfish good on rod and reel with goldfish; channel catfish fair on worms, liver, dip bait along rocky banks; bluegills very good on crickets, wax worms; crappies fair to good on minnows over dropoffs and fair early off the docks; bass fair on buzzbaits, topwater lures early near cover.
▪ BULL SHOALS: 86 degrees, clear, 25 feet high. Outlook: 125 Marina reports: bass excellent on topwater lures in the evening; catfish good on limb lines with stink bait.
▪ POMME DE TERRE: 80 degrees, fairly clear, normal. Outlook: Muskie Guide Service reports: muskies good on bucktails in less than 6 feet of water.
▪ TABLE ROCK: 78 degrees, stained, 1 foot high. Outlook: White River Lodge reports: bluegills good on crickets off main-lake points.
▪ LAKE OF THE OZARKS: 83 degrees, fairly clear, 1 foot low. Outlook: Gier’s Bass Pro reports: crappies fair on minnows in 12 to 15 feet of water in brush; bass fair on 10-inch plastc worms, Brush Hogs in brush; catfish good on cut bait drifting in 30 feet of water on main-lake flats.
▪ TANEYCOMO: Clear, two to three units running. Outlook: Lilleys’ Landing reports: Trophy Area: trout good on dry flies along the banks and under overhanging trees; also good drifting gray scuds. Below Fall Creek: trout good drifting night crawlers from the mouth of Fall Creek to Trout Hollow.
▪ BLUE SPRINGS: High 70s, clearing, near normal. Outlook: Forty Woods Bait and Tackle reports: bluegills very good on crickets, wax worms off the docks; channel catfish good on worms, dip bait along the dam and in the coves; crappies fair on minnows in the brush; hybrids fair on swimbaits near the bridge; bass fair early on white buzzbaits, spinnerbaits.
▪ REED AREA: 78 degrees, clear, full pool. Outlook: Department of Conservation reports: largemouth bass fair early and late on a variety of baits; bluegills, redear sunfish good on red worms under a bobber in shady areas; catfish fair on cut bait, chicken liver 2 feet under a bobber; crappies fair on tube jigs near brush piles.
▪ LONGVIEW: 74 degrees, 37-inch clarity, normal. Outlook: Longview Lake Marina reports: crappies fair on jigs, minnows off the marina docks and in the timber; walleyes fair (but small) on jigs with night crawlers, crankbaits.
Kansas
▪ WYANDOTTE: 79 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Wyandotte Marina reports: wipers, white bass good trolling with crankbaits on the main lake; bass very good early and late on plastic baits in the weeds; bluegills good on crickets, red worms, wax worms.
▪ MELVERN: 78 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Melvern Lake Marina reports: crappies fair to good on jigs, minnows off Turkey Point; walleyes fair on jigs with night crawlers on flats.
▪ HILLSDALE: 79 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Jayhawk Marina reports: crappies fair on jigs, minnows in 10 to 14 feet of water in brush; channel catfish good lakewide.
▪ MILFORD: Low 80s, clear, 2 feet high. Outlook: Guide Vic Oertle reports: wipers good in evening when fish are chasing shad and during the day on Bubbas in 20 feet of water; catfish good lakewide.
▪ EL DORADO: 79 degrees, clear, one-half foot high. Outlook: Wildlife, Parks and Tourism reports: crappies fair in 10 to 12 feet of water in brush; white bass, wipers fair to good early and late where fish are chasing shad; catfish good on fresh shad off points and on flats.
▪ POMONA: 84 degrees, fairly clear, near normal. Outlook: Lighthouse Bay Marina reports: crappies fair on minnows in 12 feet of water; channel catfish good on a variety of baits lakewide.
▪ WILSON: 78 degrees, clear, 9 feet low. Outlook: Knothead’s reports: stripers poor to fair on live shad, black salties in deep water on the main lake; catfish fair on goldfish, minnows.
▪ KILL CREEK: 78 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Johnson County Park and Recreation District reports: catfish good on liver near the marina; bass fair on plastic baits, spinnerbaits on the south side; crappies fair on jigs, minnows in the flooded timber.
▪ PERRY: 82 degrees, clear, 1 foot high. Outlook: Wildlife, Parks and Tourism reports: saugers fair on jigs live bait on the southeast corner of dam; white bass fair to good where fish are surfacing; crappies fair on jigs minnows in Rock Creek and Slough Creek; catfish good lakewide.
▪ SHAWNEE MISSION: 80 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Johnson County Park and Recreation District reports: catfish fair on cut bait, stink bait in the south cove and along the north shore; bass, wipers fair on spinnerbaits, plastic baits early; crappies fair on jigs, minnows off the dock and along the dam.
▪ COFFEY COUNTY: 80s degrees mid-lake, clear, 11/2 feet low. Outlook: Coffey County reports: smallmouth bass fair on plastic baits, crankbaits; blue catfish good.
▪ CLINTON: 78 degrees, very clear, 2 feet high. Outlook: Clinton Marina reports: channel catfish good on night crawlers lakewide; bluegills very good on flies, night crawlers.
▪ GLEN ELDER: 78 degrees, clear, 1 feet high. Outlook: Wayne’s Sporting Goods reports: white bass fair to good trolling crankbaits; walleyes fair drifting jigs with night crawlers drifting over dropoffs; channel catfish good on dip bait in chum holes.
▪ TUTTLE CREEK: High 70s, clearing, near normal. Outlook: Guide Vic Oertle reports: white bass fair trolling crankbaits and on jigging spoons, Bubbas; catfish good on a variety of baits lakewide.
▪ LA CYGNE: 95 degrees in the hot-water outlet, high 80s on the main lake, clear, normal. Outlook: Linn County Park reports: all species poor.

▪ GRAND (OKLA.): 77 degrees, clear, 1 foot high. Outlook: GrandFishingReport.com reports: crappies good on jigs, minnows off docks; black bass good on purlpe plastic baits off main-lake points; catfish good on Sudden Impact fiber bait, frozen shad, night crawlers in 10 feet of water.
▪ WHITE RIVER (ARK.): Clear, variable power generation. Outlook: Gaston’s White River Resort reports: brown trout good on suspending stickbaits, brown jigs, sculpins; rainbow trout good on one-eighth-ounce brown, white or black jigs, PowerBait, worms. Fly fishermen have been catching trout on pink or red San Juan worms.

Brent’s best bet
The white bass fishing has been excellent at Stockton Lake, with fishermen keying on fish chasing shad early and late. The catfishing also has been very good, and the crappie fishing is picking up.
