Fishing report for Aug. 13
Missouri
▪ TRUMAN: 84 degrees, fairly clear, 2 feet high. Outlook: Cody’s Bait and Tackle reports: hybrids good trolling fresh shad on humps and flats. Below the dam: white bass, hybrids good on topwater lures, spoons; crappies good on minnows; catfish good on shad, cut bait.
▪ SMITHVILLE: 85 degrees, murky, 1 foot high. Outlook: Burton’s Bait and Tackle reports: crappies good on minnows in 10 to 12 feet of water in main-lake brush; bass good on crankbaits, Brush Hogs, jigs in shallow brush and off main-lake points; white bass good on small crankbaits, Rat-L-Traps, Pepper Spoons off main-lake points; channel catfish good on prepared baits.
▪ TABLE ROCK: 90 degrees, stained, 6 feet high. Outlook: White River Lodge reports: catfish good on shad sides, panfish; bluegills excellent on crickets in 15 to 22 feet of water on main-lake points, flats; bass poor to fair early on green-pumpkin jigs in 12 to 25 feet of water in areas with chunk rock.
▪ NORFORK: 84 degrees, clear, 15 feet high. Outlook: Bink’s Guide Service reports: stripers good on 1-ounce white Bink’s Spoons in 60 to 80 feet of water; bass good on jig and pig in 35 feet of water on main-lake flats; catfish good on trotlines with bluegills along the banks.
▪ JACOMO: Mid 80s, clearing, normal. Outlook: Forty Woods Bait and Tackle reports: bluegills good on crickets, waxworms, redworms off the pay dock; channel catfish fair to good on hot dogs, shrimp off the pay dock and the handicap dock in the evening; bass fair on plastic worms, minnows in the shallows early and late.
▪ STOCKTON: 84 degrees, clear, 2 feet high. Outlook: Stockton Lake Guide Service reports: crappies fair to good on minnows in 20 to 25 feet of water in brush; bass fair to good on plastic baits in 25 to 30 feet of water in the brush; walleyes good on bottom bouncers with night crawlers in 18 feet of water on the flats; white bass excellent where fishing are surfacing in evenings on flats, long points; catfish good lakewide.
▪ BULL SHOALS: 89 degrees, clear, 27 feet high. Outlook: 125 Marina reports: bass fair on jigging spoons in 20 feet of water; catfish good on limb or trotlines with goldfish, cut bait.
▪ TANEYCOMO: Clear, 3 units running all day. Outlook: Lilleys’ Landing reports: Trophy Area; trout good on white marabou jigs. Below Fall Creek: trout fair drifting night crawlers.
▪ BLUE SPRINGS: Mid 80s, clearing, near normal. Outlook: Forty Woods Bait and Tackle reports: bluegills very good on crickets in rocky areas; channel catfish fair to good on liver, extra-large shiners along the dam and in the coves; crappies fair on small minnows off docks.
▪ REED AREA: 84 degrees, clear, full pool. Outlook: Department of Conservation reports: largemouth bass fair early and late on a variety of baits; bluegills, redear sunfish good on red worms under a bobber in shady areas; catfish fair on cut bait, chicken liver 2 feet under a bobber.
▪ LONGVIEW: 82 degrees, 34-inch clarity, normal. Outlook: Longview Lake Marina reports: crappies fair on jigs off the marina docks.
▪ LAKE OF THE OZARKS: 87 degrees, fairly clear, one-half foot low. Outlook: Gier’s Bass Pro reports: crappies poor to fair (a few are being caught on minnows in 18 feet of water in main-lake brush); bass fair on Brush Hogs, jigs, plastic worms in 20 feet in brush; catfish poor to fair on trotlines.
▪ POMME DE TERRE: 85 degrees, clear at the dam, dingy on the north end, 4.78 feet high. Outlook: Muskie Guide Service reports: all species poor.
Kansas
▪ POMONA: 85 degrees, clear, one-half foot high. Outlook: Lighthouse Bay Marina reports: crappies good on jigs, worms 6 inches off the bottom in 12 feet of water; channel catfish good on a variety of baits in 12 feet of water.
▪ WILSON: low 80s degrees, clear, 9 feet low. Outlook: Knothead’s reports: stripers, white bass, catfish fair to good on live bait in 20 feet of water.
▪ MILFORD: Low 80s, slightly murky on upper end, fairly clear on the lower end, 3 feet high. Outlook: Guide Vic Oertle reports: white bass fair on jigging spoons; wipers good early and late on topwater lures; catfish good on a variety of lures.
▪ KILL CREEK: 87 degrees, murky, normal. Outlook: Johnson County Park and Recreation District reports: catfish good on liver, cut bait along the north shore and in the flooded timber on the south side; bass fair early on spinnerbaits, plastic baits on the south side; crappies fair on jigs, minnows in the flooded timber.
▪ WYANDOTTE: 86 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Wyandotte Marina reports: bass good on plastic baits during the day in the weeds; channel catfish fair at night on worms, liver, shad, prepared baits; bluegills good on crickets, red worms, wax worms; hybrids fair trolling crankbaits on the main lake.
▪ PERRY: 82 degrees, slightly murky, 2 feet high. Outlook: Wildlife, Parks and Tourism reports: crappies fair on minnows, jigs in 12 to 15 feet of water in brush; saugers fair on shad-colored crankbaits, jigs with night crawlers on southeast corner of dam; white bass fair where fish are surfacing; channel catfish good on shad on flats.
▪ SHAWNEE MISSION: 87 degrees, murky, normal. Outlook: Johnson County Park and Recreation District reports: catfish fair on cut bait, stinkbait in the south cove and along the north shore; bass fair on plastic baits along the north shore; panfish fair off the docks and along the dam.
▪ EL DORADO: Low 80s, fairly clear, 1.4 feet high. Outlook: Wildlife, Parks and Tourism reports: white bass, wipers fair to good trolling crankbaits; white bass good early where fish are surfacing off windy points; walleyes fair to good on jigs with night crawlers on flats, off points and on road beds; catfish fair to good on liver, worms in old Bluestem Lake.
▪ MELVERN: 85 degrees, fairly clear, one-half foot high. Outlook: Melvern Lake Marina reports: catfish fair on a variety of baits; crappies fair on jigs in 20 feet of water in main-lake brush.
▪ COFFEY COUNTY: 93 degrees mid-lake,clear, one-half foot low. Outlook: Coffey County reports: smallmouth bass fair on plastic baits.
▪ CLINTON: 84 degrees, clearing, 2 feet high. Outlook: Clinton Marina reports: all species poor. A few small crappies are being caught.
▪ HILLSDALE: 85 degrees, slightly murky, normal. Outlook: Jayhawk Marina reports: crappies fair at docks; channel catfish fair to good lakewide.
▪ GLEN ELDER: 80 degrees, murky, 2 feet high. Outlook: Wayne’s Sporting Goods reports: white bass fair where fish are surfacing; wipers, white bass fair trolling crankbaits; catfish good at the inflows.
▪ TUTTLE CREEK: Mid 80s, clearing, 1 foot low. Outlook: Guide Vic Oertle reports: white bass, catfish poor to fair.
▪ LA CYGNE: 95 degrees in the hot-water outlet, high 80s on the main lake, clear, normal. Outlook: Linn County Park reports: all species poor.

▪ GRAND (OKLA.): 91, clearing, normal. Outlook: GrandFishingReport.com reports: bow fishing very good along banks and in pockets; white bass good on Bendable Spoons, Go Go Minnows where fish are surfacing on the main lake; crappies good (but mostly small) on minnow, small jigs, Bendable Minnows; catfish good on cut bait in 30 feet of water on the main lake.
▪ WHITE RIVER (ARK.): Clear, variable power generation. Outlook: Gaston’s White River Resort reports: brown trout good on suspending stickbaits, No. 7 gold countdown Rapalas; rainbow trout very good on night crawlers. Fly fishermen have been catching trout on pink or red San Juan worms.

Brent’s best bet
The fishing below Truman Dam has turned on as the Corps of Engineers continues to release water into the upper end of Lake of the Ozarks. Good fishing for white bass, hybrids, catfish and crappies has been reported by bait shops and guides.
