Lure of the Week: the Rebel Bluegill

Bass love to feed on small bluegills. They’re like potato chips to the big predators.

So it’s no surprise that a panfish imitation is making waves in the fishing world.

The Rebel Lures’ Bluegill is a small bait (2 3/8 inches long) that produces big results.

The square bill crankbait dives to about 3 feet and deflects off cover such as brush, timber and rocks. It has a single rattle that moves to the end of the bait during the cast to add distance and accuracy.

Like many of the small lures Rebel is producing these days, the Bluegill feature barbless treble hooks, a move to produce less harm to deeply hooked fish. It comes in four color patterns and sells for about $6.
