Lure of the week: The Pivot Frog
In this online series, outdoors editor Brent Frazee takes a look at some of the hottest fishing lures on the market.
For the past few years, lure companies have been striving to come up with the perfect imitation of the frogs that bass love to chase.
The Sebile Company is the latest to shake the lily pads with its Pivot Frog.
The soft-plastic, hollow-belly lure is set apart by a pivoting, wide-gap hook that allows for snag-free fishing and more efficient hookups. It was designed for fishing in areas with heavy weed growth or lily pads, skimming the surface and pausing the bait occasionally. But it also is effective in shallow, open water.
With summer approaching — and the frogs hopping — it is a good option for bass fishermen to consider.
Introduced last year, the topwater lure sells for about $7.
