Fishing report for June 11

Missouri

▪ TABLE ROCK: 76 degrees, muddy in the rivers, slightly off-color on the main lake, 2 feet high. Outlook: White River Lodge reports: bass excellent early and late on chuggers or Zara Spooks off main-lake points; white bass excellent on topwater lures off points from 5:30 a.m. until 10 a.m. Later in day, Dixie Jet spoons are working in deeper water.

▪ BULL SHOALS: 71 degrees, clear, 15 feet high. Outlook: 125 Marina reports: smallmouth bass fair on Brush Hogs, Gitzits in 25 to 30 feet of water off main-lake points; walleyes good trolling crankbaits along bluffs; catfish good on juglines with cut shad, chicken liver in 25 feet of water.

▪ BLUE SPRINGS: Low 70s, stained, 1 foot high. Outlook: Forty Woods Bait and Tackle reports: channel catfish good early and late on live bait in rocky areas and along the dam; bluegills, green sunfish good on crickets, wax worms in rocky areas; white bass fair on jigs, minnows along the dam; bass fair on plastic baits in brush; crappies fair to good on minnows in the brush in the coves.

▪ SMITHVILLE: 75 degrees, muddy in the river arms, stained on the main lake, 10 feet high. Outlook: Burton’s Bait and Tackle reports: black bass fair on Senkos, spinnerbaits in the newly flooded brush and vegetation; channel catfish good on night crawlers in the back of coves where there is inflow.

▪ REED AREA: 76 degrees, dingy, slightly high. Outlook: Department of Conservation reports: bluegills, redear sunfish fair on red worms under a bobber.

▪ TANEYCOMO: Clear, heavy water releases. Outlook: Lilleys’ Landing reports: Trophy Area: trout good on Miracle flies, egg flies with a San Juan worm or scud dropper. Below Fall Creek: trout good on No. 12 gray scuds from Fall Creek to Cooper Creek; trout also good on white or chartreuse PowerBait or air-injected night crawlers.

▪ NORFORK: 80 degrees, clear, 6 feet high. Outlook: Bink’s Guide Service reports: stripers good on swimbaits in 40 feet of water; bass good on topwater lures off main-lake points early.

▪ JACOMO: Low 70s, stained, high. Outlook: Forty Woods Bait and Tackle reports: catfish fair to good early and late on live bait in rocky areas; crappies fair to good on jigs, minnows early in the morning off marina docks; bluegills very good on crickets, wax worms in shallow, rocky areas.

▪ LAKE OF THE OZARKS: 75 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Gier’s Bass Pro reports: bass excellent on crankbaits, large jigs, plastic worms from 1 to 20 feet of water off points; bass also good on topwater lures early in the morning; crappies fair on minnows in deep brush or on crankbaits trolled in the middle of coves; catfish poor to fair on cut bait in 25 to 30 feet of water.

▪ STOCKTON: 72 degrees, clear, 41/2 feet high. Outlook: Stockton Lake Guide Service reports: bass good on jigs, plastic baits in 18 feet of water off points and steep banks; crappies fair trolling crankbaits 15 feet down in 30 feet of water; walleyes fair on jigs with night crawlers in 15 to 22 feet of water off steep points; catfish fair to good on worms, prepared baits in creeks and along riprap.

▪ TRUMAN: 73 degrees, fairly clear, 11 feet high. Outlook: Guide Steve Blake reports: crappies, wipers fair on Sassy Shad in 12 to 15 feet of water at the weir and off points in the Tebo arm; largemouth bass fair on plastic worms in 4 to 8 feet of water. Below the dam: catfish good on cut bait.

▪ POMME DE TERRE: 76 degrees, murky on upper end, clear on lower end, 8 feet high. Outlook: Muskie Guide Service reports: bass good on Flicker Shad, plastic baits in the flooded buck brush; crappies poor to fair on minnows, jigs in the brush; muskies good on crankbaits.

▪ LONGVIEW: 69 degrees, murky 2 feet high. Outlook: Longview Lake Marina reports: bass fair on spinnerbaits in the shallows.

Kansas

▪ COFFEY COUNTY: 75 degrees at midlake, 85 degrees at hot-water outlet, clear, 1 feet high. Outlook: Coffey County reports: smallmouth bass excellent on Ned Rigs; wipers, white bass, channel catfish poor to fair.

▪ WILSON: 65 degrees, clear, 8 feet low. Outlook: Knothead’s reports: stripers good on live bait and cut bait in 20 feet of water; walleyes fair to good on jigs with night crawlers off Lucas Point; bass good on crankbaits, live bait in shallow rocky areas; catfish good on cut bait.

▪ WYANDOTTE: 69 degrees, murky, 1 foot high. Outlook: Wyandotte Marina reports: channel catfish good on night crawlers, chicken liver in Marshall Creek and other places where runoff is entering lake; bluegills good on wax worms in 8 to 15 feet of water near spawning beds.

▪ MELVERN: Low 70s, muddy, 8 feet high. Outlook: Melvern Lake Marina reports: crappies, smallmouth bass poor to fair (a few are being caught along the dam); channel catfish good on cut bait, liver.

▪ POMONA: High 60s, muddy, 16 feet high. Outlook: Lighthouse Bay Marina reports: crappies fair on jigs, minnows along the newly flooded flooded brush; catfish good lakewide.

▪ KILL CREEK: 72 degrees, murky, normal. Outlook: Johnson County Park and Recreation reports: catfish good on worms, stinkbaits on the north side; bass fair on spinnerbaits, plastic baits in the morning; crappies fair on jigs, minnows in the flooded timber.

▪ SHAWNEE MISSION: 70 degrees, murky, normal. Outlook: Johnson County Park and Recreation reports: crappies fair on jigs, minnows off the handicap pier and along the dam; catfish good on worms, cut bait near the marina and along the dam; bass fair on jigs, spinnerbaits.

▪ LA CYGNE: 81 degrees, murky, normal. Outlook: Linn County Park reports: blue catfish fair to good on trotlines.

▪ EL DORADO: Low 70s, murky, 5 feet high. Outlook: Wildlife, Parks and Tourism reports: walleyes good on jigs with night crawlers in 4 to 12 feet of water; blue catfish good on night crawlers off windy points or in creeks.

▪ HILLSDALE: 72 degrees, muddy, 7 1/2 feet high. Outlook: Jayhawk Marina reports: catfish poor to fair.

▪ PERRY: High 60s, murky, 18 feet high. Outlook: Tightlines Bait and Tackle reports: catfish good on night crawlers, stinkbait, cut shad where runoff is entering the lake.

▪ CLINTON: High 60s, murky with lots of debris, 5 feet high. Outlook: Clinton Marina reports: catfish poor to fair; crappies fair on jigs off marina docks.

▪ TUTTLE CREEK: High 60s, muddy, 19 feet high. Outlook: Guide Vic Oertle reports: all species poor.

▪ GLEN ELDER: 69 degrees, muddy, normal. Outlook: Wayne’s Sporting Goods reports: all species poor.

▪ MILFORD: High 60s, murky, 6 feet high. Lots of debris. Outlook: Guide Vic Oertle reports: all species poor.

Other area waters

▪ GRAND (OKLA.): 76 degrees, murky, 8 feet high. Outlook: Grand Lake Sports Center reports: white bass very good on Go-Go Minnows, Rooster Tails, small spinnerbaits where fish are surfacing in the evening; catfish very good on juglines with goldfish, panfish, cut shad; crappies good on jigs, minnows in 8 to 10 feet of water in the brush.

▪ WHITE RIVER (ARK.): Clear, heavy power generation. Outlook: Gaston’s White River Resort reports: Fly fishing: rainbow trout very good on white or pink jigs, streamers, ruby midges and squirrel nymphs. Spin fishing: brown trout good on one-eighth-ounce brown, white or gray-white jigs, sculpins and suspending stickbaits. Rainbow trout good on PowerBait, spoons, jigs.

▪ BEAVER (ARK.): 78 degrees, clear, 7 1/2 feet high. Outlook: Joe Farkas Guide Service reports: stripers good trolling live shad under balloons or on free lines or casting topwater lure early and late.

Brent’s best bet

If you’re an avid topwater fisherman, Table Rock Lake is the place to go this week. Guides say the bass fishing has been excellent early in the morning, with fish hitting chuggers and Zara Spooks. White bass also have been hitting smaller topwater lures early.
