Missouri

▪ BULL SHOALS: Low 70s, clear, 13 feet high. Outlook: 125 Marina reports: bass very good on jigs in 15 feet of water off main lake points; catfish good on jug lines, trotlines with cut bait, minnows. Bink’s Guide Service reports: walleyes very good on spoons in 20 feet of water along the old brush line.

▪ BLUE SPRINGS: High 60s, stained, 1 foot high. Outlook: Forty Woods Bait and Tackle reports: channel catfish good on live bait in rocky areas and along the dam; bluegills fair on crickets, wax worms on rocky areas; white bass fair on jigs, minnows near the spillway; bass fair on spinnerbaits, crankbaits in the shallows.

▪ SMITHVILLE: 72 degrees, muddy in the river arms, stained on the main lake, 6 feet high. Outlook: Burton’s Bait and Tackle reports: black bass fair on Senkos, spinnerbaits in the newly flooded brush and vegetation; channel catfish good on night crawlers in the back of coves where there is inflow; white bass good on jigging spoons on humps; walleyes fair on night crawlers, small crankbaits in the flooded grass; crappies poor.

▪ REED AREA: 68 degrees, dingy, slightly high. Outlook: Department of Conservation reports: channel catfish good on worms where runoff is entering lakes; bluegills, redear sunfish good on worms under a bobber; bass fair on spinnerbaits, plastic baits; crappies poor to fair.

▪ TANEYCOMO: Clear, heavy water releases. Outlook: Lilleys’ Landing reports: Trophy Area: trout good on white shad flies or marabou jigs. Below Fall Creek: trout good drifting PowerBait, Gulp Eggs, inflated night crawlers.

▪ TABLE ROCK: 70 degrees, muddy in the rivers, slightly off-color on the main lake, 2 feet high. Outlook: White River Lodge reports: bass good on chugger topwater baits early and on crawdad-colored jigs off main lake points during the day; white bass good early and late on Dixie Jet or flutter spoons where fish are surfacing.

▪ NORFORK: 76 degrees, clear, 5 feet high. Outlook: Bink’s Guide Service reports: stripers good on swimbaits in 30 feet of water; bass fair to good on topwater lures off main-lake points early; walleyes poor to fair.

▪ JACOMO: Low 70s, clear, high. Outlook: Forty Woods Bait and Tackle reports: catfish good at night on cut bait off the docks; bluegills good on crickets, wax worms; crappies fair to good on jigs, minnows off the marina docks and in main lake brush; black bass fair on a variety of baits in the shallows.

▪ LAKE OF THE OZARKS: 75 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Gier’s Bass Pro reports: crappies fair on minnows in 15 feet of water in main lake brush; bass good on topwater lures, jigs, plastic worms, plastic lizards off main lake points; catfish fair to good on rod and reel or jug lines with cut bait in 18 to 20 feet of water.

▪ STOCKTON: 72 degrees, muddy in river arms, murky on main lake; 4 feet high. Outlook: Stockton Lake Guide Service reports: crappies fair on crankbaits 12 to 15 feet down in 30 feet of water; bass good on spinnerbaits in 6 to 12 feet of water off secondary points; walleyes fair on jig and crawlers in 18 to 20 feet of water; catfish very good on night crawlers.

▪ TRUMAN: 70 degrees, muddy, 101/2 feet high. Outlook: Osage Bluff Marina reports: bass fair on spinnerbaits, Flukes, buzzbaits on the flooded grass and brush; catfish good on trotlines with green sunfish, goldfish; crappies fair on minnows 10 to 12 feet down in 20 feet of water. Below the dam: Cody’s Bait and Tackle reports: all species poor. Below the dam: crappies, white bass, hybrids fair on jigs.

▪ POMME DE TERRE: 70 degrees, murky on upper end, clear on lower end, 8 feet high. Outlook: Muskie Guide Service reports: bass fair to good on topwater lures early and late on plastic worms, jigs during the day along the flooded buck brush; walleyes poor to fair trolling crankbaits; crappies fair on jigs, minnows in 10 to 20 feet of water in the brush; muskies fair trolling crankbaits.

▪ LONGVIEW: 69 degrees, murky 2 feet high. Outlook: Longview Lake Marina reports: bass fair on spinnerbaits in the shallows.

Kansas

▪ COFFEY COUNTY: 72 degrees at midlake, 85 degrees at hot-water outlet, clear, 2 feet high. Outlook: Coffey County reports: smallmouth bass excellent on Ned Rigs; channel catfish, wipers, white bass and largemouth bass fair.

▪ WILSON: 65 degrees, clear, 8 feet low. Outlook: Knotheads reports: stripers, walleyes very good on jigs with night crawlers or trolling crankbaits; bass good on plastic baits, small jig and pig in rocky shallows; catfish good on prepared baits.

▪ WYANDOTTE: 69 degrees, murky, 1 foot high. Outlook: Wyandotte Marina reports: channel catfish good on night crawlers, chicken liver in Marshall Creek and other places where runoff is entering lake; bluegills good on wax worms in 8 to 15 feet of water near spawning beds.

▪ MELVERN: Low 70s, murky, 9 feet high. Outlook: Melvern Lake Marina reports: walleyes fair on jigs with night crawlers on the flats; catfish fair on a variety of baits.

▪ GLEN ELDER: 66 degrees, muddy, near normal. Outlook: Wayne’s Sporting Goods reports: walleyes fair to good on jigs with night crawlers, crankbaits on the flats; wipers fair to good.

▪ MILFORD: High 60s, fairly clear, 2 feet high. Outlook: Guide Vic Oertle reports: walleyes fair on crankbaits trolled along breaklines; wipers fair to good on live bait along dropoffs; catfish good on live bait.

▪ POMONA: High 60s, muddy, 14 feet high. Outlook: Lighthouse Bay Marina reports: catfish fair to good.

▪ KILL CREEK: 67 degrees, murky, normal. Outlook: Johnson County Park and Recreation reports: catfish good on worms, stinkbaits on the north side; bass fair on spinnerbaits, plastic baits in the morning; crappies fair on jigs, minnows in the flooded timber.

▪ SHAWNEE MISSION: 68 degrees, murky, normal. Outlook: Johnson County Park and Recreation reports: crappies fair on jigs, minnows off the handicap pier and along the dam; catfish good on worms, cut bait near the marina and along the dam; bass fair on jigs, spinnerbaits, plastic baits.

▪ LA CYGNE: 70 degrees, muddy, 2 feet high. Outlook: Linn County Park reports: flathead catfish fair on trotlines with green sunfish.

▪ EL DORADO: 67 degrees, muddy, 5 feet high. Outlook: Wildlife, Parks and Tourism reports: catfish fair in the creeks.

▪ HILLSDALE: 67 degrees, muddy with lots of debris, 61/2 feet high. Outlook: Jayhawk Marina reports: walleyes fair on jigs with night crawlers on the flats and along dropoffs.

▪ PERRY: High 60s, murky, 7 feet high. Outlook: Tightlines Bait and Tackle reports: catfish good on rod and reel with night crawlers; walleyes poor to fair on jigs with night crawlers or minnows.

▪ CLINTON: High 60s, murky with lots of debris, 6 feet high. Outlook: Clinton Marina reports: crappies poor to fair.

▪ TUTTLE CREEK: High 60s, muddy, 2 feet high. Outlook: Guide Vic Oertle reports: all species poor.

Other area waters

▪ GRAND (OKLA.): 71 degrees, murky, 9 1/2feet high. Outlook: GrandFishingReport.Com reports: black bass good on football-head jigs, 10-inch plastic worms in 15 to 25 feet of water on rock piles; white bass, crappies fair.

▪ WHITE RIVER (ARK.): Clear, three units running around the clock. Outlook: Gaston’s White River Resort reports: rainbow trout good to excellent on pink Berkley Power Worms, yellow PowerBait, Thomas Buoyant Spoons; Rooster Tails. Fly fishing: trout good to excellent on No. 10 olive woolly buggers, No. 14 pearl midges and 1/64th-ounce pink marabou jigs.

▪ BEAVER (ARK.): 74 degrees, clear, 7 1/2 feet high. Outlook: Joe Farkas Guide Service reports: stripers good trolling live shad under balloons or on free lines or casting topwater lure early and late from Point 8 to the dam.

Brent’s best bet

The high water hasn’t hurt the fishing at Bull Shoals Lake. Although the level is 13 feet above normal, marinas and guides report very good fishing for bass on jigs and walleyes on spoons along the old brush line. Catfish also are being caught on jug lines and trotlines.
