Missouri

BULL SHOALS: High 60s, clear, 5 feet low. Outlook: Guide Del Colvin reports: Black bass good early on topwater lures off points and fair throughout the day on spoons and drop-shot rigs in 20 feet of water in mouths of creeks. Below the dam: John Berry of Berry Bros. Guide Service reports: No wadable water. Trout good near Wildcat Shoals (but otherwise spotty) on olive wooly buggers, prince nymphs, Y2Ks, pheasant tails, San Juan worms and midges. For big trout, try large, articulated streamers near the banks with heavy, sink-tip line.

TANEYCOMO: 50s, very clear, generation erratic. Outlook: Lilly’s Landing Resort reports: Trout spotty on scuds in sunlit areas; on the upper lake, trout fair on No. 16 and 18 black ants; below the dam, trout good after dark on streamers; in the trophy area, trout good on ginger microjigs. For bait fishermen, trout spotty using 2-pound line with white PowerBait, white Power Worms.

NORFORK: 69 degrees, clearing, normal. Outlook: Bink’s Guide Service reports: Walleyes fair in 30 feet of water off points on Bink’s spoons; stripers fair on a variety of baits up the river in Missouri; black bass good early on topwater baits off points.

LONGVIEW: 61 degrees, 42-inch water clarity, normal. Outlook: Longview Marina reports: All species slow.

POMME DE TERRE: 65 degrees, fairly clear, 1 foot high. Outlook: Muskie Guide Service reports: Black bass good (but small) in shallow water on crankbaits and Rooster Tails; crappies good (but small) in 15 feet of water over brush piles; muskies fair on Glide baits and crankbaits in the shallows.

LAKE OF THE OZARKS: 67 degrees, stained, 1 foot low. Outlook: Gier’s Bass Pro reports: Black bass good early on shallow-running baits; crappies good on minnows near docks and 10 feet down over brush piles; catfish excellent on cut bait in 50 feet of water.

REED AREA: 59 degrees, clear, full pool. Outlook: Department of Conservation reports: Black bass good on soft plastics near cover; channel catfish fair on chicken liver and worms; crappies good on tube jigs and minnows — fish are moving toward shore; bluegills and redears good on worms and crickets.

STOCKTON: 64 degrees, normal, 4 feet low. Outlook: Stockton Lake Guide Service reports: Crappies fair to good on jigs and minnows in 12 feet of water near bluffs and channel drops; black bass very good on square-billed crankbaits near timber in creeks and coves; walleyes poor; catfish very good to excellent on fresh shad drifting in 2 to 7 feet of water; white bass fair to good on Rooster Tails off windy points.

JACOMO: Low 60s, clear, normal. Outlook: Forty Woods Bait and Tackle reports: Channel catfish poor to fair on cut bait and extra large shiners; bluegills good on red worms and scented Gulp baits; crappies very good on minnows around the docks and off main-lake brush — early and late is best; white bass good early on white jigs and small spoons in coves.

BLUE SPRINGS: 60 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Forty Woods Bait and Tackle reports: Channel catfish poor on cut bait near the dam; hybrids very good on swim jigs and spoons where fish are surfacing; bluegills and redears good on red worms; crappies very good on minnows near the docks and main-lake brush piles.

TABLE ROCK: 75 degrees, dingy, 4 feet low. Outlook: White River Lodge reports: Black bass and white bass excellent from Point 15 up the White River to Eagle Rock and from Point 11 up the James River on white, 1/2-ounce jigging spoons as deep as 70 feet; main lake fishing is poor.

TRUMAN: Mid-60s, clearing, normal. Outlook: Guide Bob Bates reports: White bass and hybrids fair on a variety of baits off windy points; walleyes fair on spoons and Shad Raps in shallows and over pea gravel; crappies good on 1/4-ounce Swarm jigs in 18 to 20 feet of water near bluffs.

SMITHVILLE: 64 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Burton’s Bait and Tackle reports: Catfish good on minnows, cut bait and dip baits in 10 feet of water in coves and cuts and on the flats; black bass fair on spinnerbaits and crankbaits; crappies good on minnows in brush piles in 10 feet of water in back of coves; white bass good on pepper spoons where fish are surfacing and good on Rat-L-Traps and square-billed crankbaits off windy main-lake points.

Kansas

SHAWNEE MISSION PARK: 64 degrees, clear. Outlook: Johnson County Park and Recreation District reports: Trout fair early on north side on PowerBait and inline spinners; crappies and panfish fair on jigs near brush piles; catfish fair in the evenings lakewide on dip baits and liver; bass and wipers fair early along shorelines on spinners and soft plastics.

KILL CREEK PARK: 64 degrees, murky. Outlook: Johnson County Park and Recreation District reports: Trout fair on north side on PowerBait, inline spinners and nightcrawlers; panfish fair on red worms; crappies fair on minnows and jigs in deeper water along tree lines; bass fair early and late along north shore on soft plastics and spinners; catfish fair on dip baits and livers off shore lines and on island..

COFFEY COUNTY: Mid-60s, clear, normal. Outlook: Coffey County reports: Smallmouth bass good; largemouth bass, white bass and channel catfish all fair.

MELVERN: 63 degrees, clear, 1 foot high. Outlook: Melvern Marina reports: Smallmouth bass and white bass good on crankbaits over river channel and near dam; crappies fair on jigs and minnows off the docks and over brush piles in 12 to 15 feet of water; catfish good on worms at the outlet.

CLINTON: 61 degrees, murky, 2 feet high. Outlook: Clinton Marina reports: Crappies fair in 4 to 5 feet of water near brush; all other species slow.

POMONA: 65 degrees, clear, 2 feet high. Outlook: Wildlife, Parks & Tourism reports: Catfish good on cut bait, dip baits and nightcrawlers; white bass and wipers fair to good on variety of baits; all other species slow.

PERRY: 62 degrees, clearing, 2 1/2 feet high. Outlook: Don and Tom’s Bait and Tackle reports: Crappies good (but small) on jigs on breaks and off docks; blue catfish good on shad north of Devil’s Gap in 17 to 32 feet of water. Below the dam: All species fair.

MILFORD: 61 degrees, clear, 2 feet high. Outlook: Guide Vic Oertle reports: Wipers and white bass good at dusk near the causeways, and wipers good over deep water midlake and in School Creek and Madison Creek in the evenings on Double W Shad Flutter Spoons and Bubbas; crappies fair shallow.

HILLSDALE: 63 degrees, murky, normal. Outlook: Jayhawk Marina reports: Crappies fair on jigs in 6 to 10 feet of water; white bass fair; all other species slow.

LA CYGNE: Low 70s, clear, normal. Outlook: Linn County Parks reports: All species slow.

GLEN ELDER: 65 degrees, clear, 1 foot high. Outlook: Wayne’s Sporting Goods reports: Walleyes fair on jigs and worms in 15 feet of water; white bass fair to good on spinnerbaits and Flicker Shad; wipers and stripers fair trolling.

TUTTLE CREEK: 63 degrees, clear, 5 feet high. Outlook: Guide Vic Oertle reports: Crappies fair (but spotty); all other species slow. Only one boat ramp open with a dock.

WYANDOTTE: 66 degrees, clear, full pool. Outlook: Wyandotte Boat Rental reports: Crappies fair late on minnows or jigs in 18 to 25 feet of water off main-lake points; bass good (but small) on variety of baits; white bass fair; bluegills very good on wax worms and crickets.

Hunting

Missouri

BOB BROWN: 12,900 ducks. Moist-soil food status good; water normal. Nov. 3-5, 116 hunters averaged 1.7 ducks apiece.

NODAWAY VALLEY: 5,655 ducks. Moist-soil food status good; water normal. Nov. 3-5, 89 hunters averaged 0.8 ducks apiece.

SQUAW CREEK: 41,125 ducks, mostly pintails and gadwalls. 2,800 acres of wetlands; habitat conditions good.

MONTROSE: 4,120 ducks, mostly gadwalls. Moist-soil food status poor; water normal. No reports.

FOUR RIVERS: 14,805 ducks. Moist-soil food status good; water normal. Nov. 4-5, 117 hunters averaged 3 ducks apiece.

SCHELL-OSAGE: 7,150 ducks. Moist-soil food status good; water normal. Nov. 4-5, 245 hunters averaged 2 ducks apiece.

GRAND PASS: 14,000 ducks. Moist-soil food status fair to good; water normal. Nov. 3-5, 168 hunters averaged 1.6 ducks apiece.

FOUNTAIN GROVE: 7,500 ducks. Moist-soil food status excellent; water normal. Nov. 3-5, 236 hunters averaged 0.7 ducks apiece.

SWAN LAKE: 10,485 ducks, mostly pintails and mallards. Most units are awarded through an online draw conducted every two weeks via www.swanlakepermits.com.

Kansas

CHEYENNE BOTTOMS: 5,000 to 15,000 ducks, mostly teal; 4,000 to 10,000 geese, mostly white fronts. Water levels vary. Oct. 31-Nov. 4, duck hunters averaged a bit less than 2 birds apiece; goose hunters averaged a bit less that 1 bird apiece.

MARAIS DES CYGNES: 21,000 ducks, mostly teal; 100 geese. Water levels good; habitat good.

NEOSHO: 12,000 to 15,000 ducks, mixed. Hunting conditions fair.

PERRY: Low numbers. Hunting conditions poor.

TUTTLE CREEK: 80 ducks. Hunting conditions poor.

MILFORD: 13 ducks. Hunting conditions poor.

QUIVIRA: 36,488 ducks, mostly pintails; 23,982 geese; 2,000 sandhill cranes. Water levels are fair to good in most hunting-zone water impoundments. Whooping cranes present; area is closed to hunting.

MELVERN: 40 ducks. Hunting conditions fair.
