FISHING REPORT
Missouri
BULL SHOALS: Low 90s, clear, normal. Outlook: 125 Marina reports: Most of the keeper fish being caught during the day are below the thermocline, which remains at 22 feet; bass good on topwater lures early and on shallow-running crankbaits at night; catfish good on juglines and trotlines with cut bait; walleyes fair on bottom-bouncers with nightcrawlers.
TANEYCOMO: 50s, very clear, normal conditions: Outlook: Lilly’s Landing Resort reports: Trout good on Powerbait worms, pink and white Powerbait eggs and nightcrawlers. Below the dam: trout good on midges.
NORFORK: 85, cloudy, normal pool. Outlook: Bink’s Guide Service reports: Stripers good (a 40-pounder was landed this week) on Bink’s Spoons in 31 feet of water; walleyes good on Bink’s Spoons on the main lake bottom in 30 feet of water; bass good early on topwater baits.
LONGVIEW: 79 degrees, 38-inch water clarity, full pool. Outlook: Longview Marina reports: crappies fair (but small) on jigs and minnows at marina docks; bass fair to slow on crankbaits off points.
POMME DE TERRE: 84 degrees, clear, normal pool. Outlook: Muskie Guide Service reports: Bass fair off points on Carolina rigs; crappies fair on jigs and minnows over brush piles in 15 feet of water; white bass good on Flicker Shads, Road Runners and Rooster Tails; walleyes and muskies slow.
LAKE OF THE OZARKS: 83 degrees, stained, 1 foot low. Outlook: Gier’s Bass Pro reports: Bass fair on soft plastics; crappies fair on minnows in brush piles in 15 to 20 feet of water; catfish fair on cut bait halfway back in coves.
REED AREA: 76 degrees, clear, full pool. Outlook: Department of Conservation reports: Black bass good on soft plastics near cover early and late; channel catfish good on chicken livers and worms; crappies slow on tube jigs and minnows near brush piles and weed lines; bluegills and redears good on worms and crickets.
STOCKTON: 80 degrees, clear, 3 feet low. Outlook: Stockton Lake Guide Service reports: White bass excellent on Road Runners and Rat-L-Traps in the evenings on points and flats where fish are surfacing; catfish very good on fresh shad in 8 to 18 feet of water; walleyes fair on nightcrawlers in 14 to 20 feet of water; bass fair on large worms and tube jigs in brush piles 20 feet down; crappies poor to fair.
JACOMO: 78 degrees, stained, high. Outlook: Forty Woods Bait and Tackle reports: Channel catfish good on cut shad, dip bait and nightcrawlers in coves; flathead catfish fair late at night with goldfish on flats and near mouths of coves; bluegills good on river worms and wax worms; largemouth bass good early and late in the weeds with top-water frogs and on natural structure with large shiners; white bass fair early casting spoons or slow trolling small crankbaits near Sailboat Cove area; crappies poor.
BLUE SPRINGS: 79 degrees, stained, high. Outlook: Forty Woods Bait and Tackle reports: Channel catfish good on Sonny's dip bait, shrimp and nightcrawlers off docks and in coves; bluegills very good on Gulp scented baits, river worms and red worms; crappies poor off marina docks but fair on main lake brush early on minnows in 15 to 20 feet of water; hybrids poor to fair near spillway; largemouth bass fair to good on topwater baits on weed lines early and excellent (but small) on small minnows at marina docks.
TABLE ROCK: 87 degrees, clear, 6 feet low. Outlook: Baxter Boat Dock reports: Smallmouth bass good off chunk-rock banks in 15 to 20 feet of water; bluegills fair on crickets; catfish good with perch on trotlines and juglines at varying depths; largemouth bass fair (but small) on drop-shot rigs.
TRUMAN: 81 degrees, 2 feet low, clear. Outlook: Cody’s Guide Service reports: Catfish very good on fresh shad and perch in 15 to 30 feet of water; crappies fair on jigs and minnows in 15 to 18 feet of water in the brush; hybrids slow on jigs and spoons. Below the dam: All species slow.
SMITHVILLE: 80 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Burton’s Bait and Tackle reports: catfish good on dip baits on the flats and in less than 8 feet of water; bass fair on creature baits and worms in 5 to 6 feet of water off main-lake points; crappies good on minnows in brush piles in 10 to 12 feet of water on the main lake; walleyes poor; white bass fair off main lake points early and late chasing shad on surface.
Kansas
COFFEY COUNTY: 85-90 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Coffey County reports: Smallmouth bass fair in rocky areas; all other species slow.
MELVERN: 77 degrees, clear, normal pool. Outlook: Melvern Marina reports: All species fair to slow.
CLINTON: 80 degrees, murky, normal pool. Outlook: Clinton Marina reports: All species fair to slow.
POMONA: 79 degrees, clear, normal pool. Outook: Lighthouse Bay Marina reports channel catfish good lakewide on shad sides and minnows and jigs; crappies good in brush in 6 feet of water on minnows and jigs.
SHAWNEE MISSION: 80 degrees, murky. Outlook: Johnson County Park and Recreation District reports: Catfish fair lakewide on liver and dough bait in the evening; crappies fair early on minnows and jigs in middle cove and along south shore; bass good early along shore lines on spinners and soft plastics; wipers good early on sunfish along dam; trout poor;.
KILL CREEK: 78 degrees, murky. Outlook: Johnson County Park and Recreation District reports: crappies fair on minnows and jigs in deeper water along tree lines and late along shore lines; panfish fair on worms; bass good on spinners and soft plastics along north shore early and late; catfish fair on liver and dough bait off shore lines and along island; trout poor.
PERRY: 81 degrees, stained, 4 feet high. Outlook: Don and Tom’s Bait and Tackle reports: Channel catfish good in bean holes; blue catfish good (but under legal size) north of the K-92 bridge in shallow water on cut bait; black bass fair early; wipers good below spillway.
MILFORD: 78 degrees, some algae, 2 feet high. Outlook: Guide Vic Oertle reports: Wipers excellent on the surface near gulls when there is good cloud cover; catfish good; white bass fair; black bass slow.
WILSON: Mid-70s, murky, 1 foot high. Outlook: Knothead’s Bait and Tackle reports: Stripers fair on live bait or slabs; channel catfish good on liver, stink bait, minnows and worms in 7 to 20 feet of water; smallmouth bass fair on live bait and lures. (Chartreuse has been an effective lure color for all species.)
HILLSDALE: 81 degrees, clear, 2 feet high. Outlook: Jayhawk Marina reports crappies good on minnows and jigs; channel catfish very good on a variety of baits in 10 feet of water; walleyes slow.
LA CYGNE: 92 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Linn County Parks reports: White bass good near hot-water outlet; channel catfish fair; largemouth bass fair.
WYANDOTTE: 79 degrees, murky, full pool. Outlook: Wyandotte Boat Rental reports: Crappies good on minnows in 18 feet of water off main-lake points; bass good (but small) on variety of baits; catfish slow.
GLEN ELDER: 77 degrees, stained, 1 foot high. Outlook: Wayne’s Sporting Goods reports: walleyes fair on jigs and worms; white bass and wipers fair trolling.
TUTTLE CREEK: 78 degrees, clear, 4 feet high. Outlook: Guide Vic Oertle reports: Crappies fair to good (some with very good size) deep over brush; white bass fair while trolling; catfish good; bass poor.
