Missouri Mavericks send series to Game 6 with win over Allen Americans

The Missouri Mavericks are not done yet in their ECHL Western Conference semifinal series.

The Mavericks beat the Allen Americans 3-1 on Sunday in Allen, Texas, and trail 3-2 in the series. Game 6 will be 7:05 p.m. Tuesday at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena.

“We played a full 60 minutes, and it paid off,” Mavericks coach Richard Matvichuk said. “There were a couple of bad bounces the last couple of nights that ended up in our net, but (Sunday) we played a solid game. Now we look ahead and get ready for Game 6.”

The Americans’ Greger Hanson scored 4:33 into the first period on the team’s second shot of the game. The Mavericks tied the score on Carter Verhaeghe’s goal at 5:30 of the second period.

Rocco Carzo scored a shorthanded goal late in the second period, putting the Mavericks up 2-1.
