Mavericks fall behind 3-1 in playoff series with loss to Americans

The Missouri Mavericks rallied in the third period but ended up losing 4-2 to the Allen Americans in the ECHL’s Western Conference semifinals on Friday night in Allen, Texas.

The Mavericks trail 3-1 in the series.

Goals by the Mavericks’ Tyler Barnes and Ross Johnston tied the game at 2-2 in the third period.

But Spencer Asuchak scored for the Americans when the puck bounced past Mavericks goalie Josh Robinson, and Vincent Arseneau added an empty-net goal.

“It was a good battle. They scored on a lucky bounce,” Mavericks coach Richard Matvichuk said. “We have to look ahead and get ready for Sunday. We found ways to win all season and we aren’t going to stop now.”

Game 5 will be Sunday at the Allen Event Center.
