KC Mavericks can close out Round 2 playoff series vs. Allen on Saturday: details

The Kansas City Mavericks professional hockey team can close out its best-of-seven ECHL Kelly Cup playoffs series with a win in Game 4 of the Mountain Division finals on Saturday in Texas.

The top-seeded Mavericks currently lead the series against the Allen Americans three games to none. The Mavericks skated to narrow victories Games 1 and 2 at Cable Dahmer Arena, winning 2-1 this past Saturday and 1-0 on Sunday.

KC swept its opening postseason opponent, Tahoe, in four games and would keep sweeping its way to the Western Conference finals with a Game 4 win over Allen this weekend.

The Mavericks’ most recent conquest of the team from Texas was a 7-4 drubbing of the Americans on Wednesday night in Game 3. Game 4 is set for Saturday at 7:10 p.m. at the Credit Union of Texas Event Center in Allen, Texas.

Both Bobo Carpenter and Luke Loheit had KC hat tricks against Allen in Game 3 — the first time this year two Mavericks have scored three or more goals apiece in the same game. Loheit’s last strike was a late-game empty-netter; Jackson Jutting also scored.

The Mavericks are coming off a game in which they put 37 shots on goal and goalie Jack LaFontaine made 22 saves. Wednesday night’s game was tied 1-1 following the opening period.

Carpenter leads the Mavericks with nine points and seven goals this postseason.
