Mavericks lose to Komets in overtime

The Missouri Mavericks let one slip away on Friday night in Fort Wayne, Ind.

The Mavericks had a 5-1 lead in the third period but eventually fell to the Fort Wayne Komets 6-5 in overtime.

With the loss, Missouri dropped to 8-9-2 on the season.

The Mavericks had a 2-1 lead after two periods and surged further ahead in the third period on three goals on four shots over a span of 4 minutes, 15 seconds to go up 5-1.

The Komets, however, put together four unanswered goals.

Fort Wayne’s Garrett Thompson scored the game-winner 49 seconds into the overtime.

Dan Correale, Rocco Carzo, Ryan Obuchowski, Jacob Doty and Dane Fox scored for the Mavericks.
