Mavericks beat Indy 2-1 in their home opener
The Missouri Mavericks picked a good time to record their first win of the season.
The Mavs, who won the Brabham Cup with the best regular-season record in the ECHL in 2015, gave John-Scott Dickson his first victory as their new head coach with a 2-1 win over the Indy Fuel on Saturday night at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena.
The Mavericks, 1-3-0, scored their two goals just 4 minutes apart in the third period.
Darren Nowick recorded his second goal in as many nights for Missouri, and Aaron Berisha followed with his first goal of the season on a wrist shot a few minutes later.
The Mavericks return to home ice Nov. 5 against the Tulsa Oilers.
