Chiefs general manager John Dorsey said he’s spoken to All-Pro safety Eric Berry’s camp “a few times, and that’s normal.” But Dorsey didn’t say when he expected Berry to return.

Reports have Berry returning to the Chiefs on Sunday. Dorsey wouldn’t confirm that.

“When he gets here, he gets here,” Dorsey said.

Berry has not been part of any of the Chiefs’ offseason or preseason activities, and he and the team failed to come to terms on a long-term deal. If Berry arrives early next week, Chiefs coach Andy Reid doesn’t expect to see him play in Thursday’s game against the Packers.

“I would lean away from that,” Reid said. “I want to see what shape he’s in first.”
