After a month of leisure, the Chiefs will take their first real steps toward building on a breakthrough 2015 season as quarterbacks and rookies are due to report to training camp Tuesday at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph.

The last time that the Chiefs were together was in late June, when two months of offseason workouts and a month’s worth of practices came to a close with a three-day mandatory minicamp. The Chiefs rallied from a 1-5 start a year ago to rattle off 11 straight wins, including one that ended their 22-year drought without a playoff victory.

The Chiefs are scheduled to hold their first practice since then at 8:40 a.m. Wednesday. And like the previous offseason practices, that practice — and the next two, on Thursday and Friday — will be closed to the public.

All veterans are required to report to St. Joseph on Friday, and the Chiefs will hold the first of 14 full-squad practices on Saturday. Those will be open to the public and largely free, though there will be a $5 admission fee for Saturday’s practice and the practice on Aug. 6, after which there will be a team autograph session.

Team autograph sessions will be held after the free practices July 31 and Aug. 7, and the Chiefs will have a designated position group sign autographs every day after every other practice.

Practices that start at 8:15 a.m. will run approximately two hours and 40 minutes, while practices that start at 9:15 a.m. will run for one hour and 40 minutes. There is a $5 parking fee per vehicle per day.
