The No. 84 made a triumphant return to the field Monday at Chiefs training camp on the Missouri Western campus, but Sean McGrath — and his famed beard — remains retired.

Instead, tight end Adam Schlitz, who was signed Saturday after being cut by the Titans a day earlier, donned the red No. 84 jersey.

Schiltz, 24, who played collegiately at Emporia State, made a reaching grab on a pass a few feet in front of him during his first practice with the Chiefs.

Barring an injury, Schiltz’s chances to make the Chiefs’ final roster remain slim.

Still, Schiltz, 6 feet 4, 245 pounds, who had 44 catches for 560 yards and four touchdowns as a Hornets senior, should hang around through at least one preseason game and continue his NFL audition.
