The return of De’Anthony Thomas will fill two needs for the Chiefs. He’ll add depth at wide receiver and likely return to his punt return duties on Sunday against the Browns.

“I feel like I haven’t lost a beat,” Thomas said. “I’ve been taking visual reps, tuned in a practice and knowing what’s going on.”

Thomas suffered a concussion early in the Chiefs’ game at San Diego on Nov. 22. He’s missed four games. The Chiefs have been in good shape from a wide receiver standpoint. Punt returning has been another matter. Frankie Hammond Jr. had some good moments, but he lost a fumble against the Chargers and took a 10-yard loss against the Ravens.

“You always worried about a guy who hasn’t caught a punt in four weeks, how he’s going to react,” special teams coach Dave Toub said.

Will Thomas start on Sunday?

“As long as he keeps progressing like he’s doing, I feel good about it,” Toub said.
