Chiefs add tight end, promote running back to 53-man roster
The Chiefs on Tuesday signed tight end Phillip Supernaw off the Baltimore Ravens practice squad and elevated running back Charcandrick West from the practice squad to the 53-man roster.
The moves were made after the club placed running back Cyrus Gray and tight end Demetrius Harris on injured reserve. Gray suffered torn knee ligaments and Harris fractured a foot last Sunday at Buffalo.
In addition, the Chiefs signed tight end Adam Schiltz of Emporia State to the practice squad. Schiltz spent the 2014 training camp with the Chiefs.
Supernaw, 6-foot-5, 248 pounder, has played in four games in two NFL seasons with the Ravens this season and at Houston in 2013. He has one career catch for minus-2 yards with Baltimore. Supernaw spent time on both the Texans and the Ravens practice squads. He originally entered the NFL with Houston out of Ouachita (Ark.) Baptist, where he caught 64 passes for 710 yards and 10 touchdowns in 40 career games.
West, 5-10, 205, has spent nine weeks on the Chiefs practice squad this season after he was signed as an undrafted rookie out of Abilene Christian. West rushed for 2,098 yards and 28 touchdowns and caught 71 passes for 1,007 yards with seven touchdowns in his college career.
