De’Anthony Thomas agrees to contract with Chiefs; only two picks unsigned

The Chiefs announced Friday that fourth-round pick De’Anthony Thomas has agreed to a contract.

Thomas, a running back and receiver who played at Oregon, is listed at 5 feet 9 and 174 pounds. He is the fourth member of the Chiefs’ six-man 2014 draft class to sign a deal, just one day after third-round pick Phillip Gaines, a cornerback, agreed to his deal.

Thomas will get a chance to fill the hole at slot receiver and punt returner left by Dexter McCluster, who signed with the Titans during free agency. During his three years at Oregon, the 21-year-old Thomas scored 46 touchdowns, including 26 as a runner, 15 as a receiver, four on kick returns and one on punt return.

Thomas is the only member of the Chiefs’ six-man draft class who has not selected a jersey number yet. A team spokesman said the process is “still on hold” and was unsure when Thomas will be issued his number.

Only two members of their draft class — outside linebacker Dee Ford and quarterback Aaron Murray — remain unsigned.
