The Kansas City Chiefs are hosting cornerback L’Jarius Sneed for a visit Thursday, a source confirmed to The Star.

Sneed, 29, originally entered the league as a fourth-round pick by the Chiefs in the 2020 NFL Draft. He was a key member of the secondary for the Chiefs’ Super Bowl LVII and Super Bowl LVIII championship teams.

During the 2024 offseason, Kansas City traded Sneed to the Tennessee Titans in exchange for a 2025 third-round pick and a swap of 2024 seventh-round picks. The Titans then signed him to a four-year, $76.4 million deal that included $55 million guaranteed.

He played only two years of that contract — and only 12 games — before the Titans parted ways.

The medical evaluation would logically be the most important component of his visit to Kansas City this week. Sneed played with an ailing knee in his final year in Kansas City, an injury that dated back to missing a dozen training camp practices with swelling.

The Chiefs traded him to the Titans the ensuing offseason. Beforehand, the Minnesota Vikings were among other teams initially interested pursuing a trade, but they backed out over concerns about Sneed’s injury history — particularly his knee.

He subsequently missed 21 games over two seasons in Tennessee.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter was first to report news of Sneed’s visit in Kansas City.
