  • Patrick Mahomes wore a brace on his left leg while practicing in OTAs.
  • Wide receiver Xavier Worthy wore a yellow jersey while limited in 7-on-7 drills.
  • Safety Jaden Hicks wore a yellow jersey and participated only in non-contact work.

NFL quarterbacks typically wear yellow jerseys at practice, emphasizing their no-contact status. Chiefs superstar Patrick Mahomes also wears a brace on his left leg while recovering from ACL and LCL surgery late last season.

So who else wore the yellow jerseys during the Chiefs’ OTAs phase 3 practice on Thursday in Kansas City?

Wide receiver Xavier Worthy and safety Jaden Hicks played under the caution flag in the portion of Thursday’s workout that was open to media. Worthy underwent offseason shoulder surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder; Hicks’ injury wasn’t disclosed

Mahomes, Hicks and Worthy participated in the team’s 7-on-7 drills, but not the 11-on-11 part.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said he typically doesn’t discuss injuries during OTAs, but “they (Mahomes, Hicks and Worthy) got procedures done, and we wanted to keep them non-contact.”

Worthy, who finished with 42 receptions for 532 yards and one touchdown in 2025, his second season in the NFL, flashed some highlight receptions from Mahomes during Thursday’s 7-on-7.

“You know, he’s done a really nice job,” Reid said of Worthy. “He’s working like crazy at it. I think he feels more comfortable.”

Hicks, in his second season as a pro out of Washington State, started three games and played 43% of the Chiefs’ defensive snaps in 2025.

If the Chiefs had an official injury list it also would have included wide receiver Rashee Rice. He is currently serving jail time in Dallas County, Texas, for breaking conditions of probation, but he also recently underwent a “cleanup” procedure in his right knee.

“We think he’ll be ready for (training) camp,” Reid said of Rice. “We’ll see how it goes.”

Reid also noted that Rice has been in communication with Chiefs head trainer Rick Burkholder.
