Eight Chiefs players ruled out for Friday’s preseason game vs. Seattle
Eight Chiefs have already been ruled out for their second preseason game Friday against the Seattle Seahawks at Arrowhead Stadium.
Chiefs coach Andy Reid said Wednesday that right tackle Jeff Allen (MCL sprain), left tackle Eric Fisher (high ankle sprain), tight end Demetrius Harris (foot), quarterback Tyler Bray (torn ACL), inside linebacker Justin March (torn meniscus), receiver Junior Hemingway (hip sprain), nose tackle Dontari Poe (back) and offensive tackle Tavon Rooks (shortness of breath) will not play Friday.
“He’s doing some tests right now and they’ve been doing it here for a couple of days to just see where he’s at,” Reid said of Rooks, who left practice Monday. “We’ll give you a heads up on it as we go and find out more.”
Reid also said receiver De’Anthony Thomas (calf sprain), inside linebacker Josh Mauga (heel) and safety Sanders Commings (knee inflammation) are questionable.
Of those 11 players, four — Allen, Fisher, Mauga and Poe — are starters. Donald Stephenson got the first-string snaps for Fisher in Wednesday’s practice, while Paul Fanaika took the first-string snaps for Allen.
“I think we’ll be OK,” Reid said of the tackle situation. “We’ve got (Paul) Fanaika and Jarrod Pughsley that can go in there and play at the tackle spot.
“Fanaika’s another one of those guys that can play anything. He’s real smart, strong and he’s got great hands, real strong hands, and that helps at the tackle spot.”
Jaye Howard got the first-string snaps for Poe while Ramik Wilson got the first-string snaps for Mauga.
