Here’s how Trent McDuffie responded to becoming NFL’s highest-paid cornerback

The Chiefs are trading cornerback Trent McDuffie in part because he wanted a top-dollar contract extension.

And McDuffie got what he wanted from his new team, the Rams.

According to reports Sunday, McDuffie is receiving a four-year, $124 million contract extension that makes him the highest-paid cornerback in the NFL.

After news of the extension was made public, McDuffie shared a short response to his X account: “God is Good.” He added an emoji of a blue heart.

Technically, McDuffie is still a member of the Chiefs, because the trade won’t become official until Wednesday when the NFL’s new league year begins. He remains on the Chiefs roster even after agreeing to the massive extension.

The Chiefs received a haul in return for McDuffie, getting one of the Rams’ first-round picks in next month’s draft (No. 29 overall), a fifth-rounder and a sixth-rounder. The Chiefs also acquired Los Angeles’ third-round selection in 2027.

McDuffie was selected by the Chiefs with the 21st overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. He was a first-team All-Pro in 2023 and second-team All-Pro the following year. McDuffie won a pair of Super Bowl titles with the Chiefs.

McDuffie responds to Jaylen Watson news

Fellow Chiefs cornerback Jaylen Watson reportedly will be joining McDuffie in LA after agreeing to a deal with the Rams.

McDuffie was fired up by that development and wrote on X: “LFGGGGGGG”
