Super Bowl week is in full swing — this year, without the Kansas City Chiefs.

But the show goes on, with the pomp and circumstance of special events, parties and Radio Row.

On Wednesday, FOX’s Jay Glazer appeared on Yahoo! Sports Daily via Radio Row, dropping an AFC West nugget that may be of interest in Kansas City: Two-time All-Pro defensive end Maxx Crosby wants out of Las Vegas.

Crosby’s frustration in remaining a Raider reportedly stems from the team’s decision to shut him down for the final two games of the regular season. He was placed on injured reserve with a knee injury.

The Raiders framed it as protecting the player, with Crosby due for a “meniscus trim” in the offseason. However, another obvious layer is that shutting down one of the game’s best defensive players could help Las Vegas in the race for the No. 1 pick.

Per Glazer at the time, the decision was “unacceptable” in Crosby’s mind.

Naturally, news of such unrest has Chiefs fans dreaming big. And Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes has never been shy about his respect for Crosby.

“It’s a ton of respect,” Mahomes said ahead of a Week 7 matchup against Las Vegas. “When I talk to him outside of football, it’s like we’re friends, and you wouldn’t even see what happens on the football field, but he’s the type of competitor like me. When you get on that football field, it’s whatever it takes to win and you’re going to leave everything on the football field, and I have a ton of respect for that.

“Those are the guys that you want on your team because they play with that mentality and he’s trying to do that and build that culture there. I know when we step across that line and you get on that football field, it’s going to take your best effort to find a way to go against that guy.”

Unfortunately, as fun as a Crosby-to-KC scenario might be to envision — tapping into the old Marcus Allen lure — it’s still a pipe dream. Last March, the Raiders signed Crosby to a three-year, $106.5 million extension, tying him to the organization through 2029.

The Chiefs don’t have that kind of money. Even if they did, the Raiders would likely scoff at trading him in-division — especially to their greatest rival — and even in-conference.

Still, Mahomes not having to see his frenemy twice a year would certainly make life a little easier.
