A concert-goer who threatened to shoot Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce at a show at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in 2024 is asking to have his felony charge dismissed.

Aaron P. Brown of Winchester, Illinois, said through his attorney in the motion to dismiss that he didn’t make “real threats” and that charges violated his free speech and due process of the law.

Detectives and intelligence analysts working at the Morgan Waller concert at Arrowhead Stadium on Aug. 2, 2024, who were monitoring for online threats, identified a post on X, formerly Twitter, that included a threat against Mahomes and Kelce.

The post was made by an account, “Gooey Bag,” and read: “Mr. Wallen at Arrowhead with the wife. If he brings out Mahomes or Kelce I’ll take the (freakin) shot. (Expletive) em. Also (expletive) you (expletive) @taylorswift13”

Mahomes, Kelce and Chris Jones attended the concert and escorted Wallen through the Arrowhead corridors.

According to the motion to dismiss, Brown’s girlfriend, who was with him that day, said he made the post while they were driving from Lake of the Ozarks to Kansas City. The social media account had 92 followers and the tweet in question was deleted before Brown was approached by the detectives.

In an interview with detectives, Brown, who was 23 at the time, called the post, “a stupid, stupid, stupid mistake,” and said he had never posted a threat on social media.

At the request of the Kansas City FBI, X disclosed account user information to police. Information provided by X led police to Brown, according to the affidavit. Detectives used a cell phone number they were provided to contact Brown, and he confirmed his identity, according to court records.

Brown told police where he was located at Arrowhead and plain clothes officers detained him for terroristic threats, according to the affidavit.

The next day, Brown was charged with terroristic threat in the second degree, a Class E felony. He had no criminal history.
