Chiefs say they’re aware of viral social media post alleging domestic violence
The Kansas City Chiefs say they are aware of a post swirling on social media Wednesday regarding allegations of domestic violence.
An account belonging to a woman known to be the partner of Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice made a post Wednesday afternoon alleging that she had “dealt with abuse for years.” With those allegations, she posted photos depicting bruising and scratches on her face and body, including a swollen, bloodied lip. Other photos show damage inside a home.
She does not name Rice or anyone in the post, which has been shared and viewed millions of times across multiple social media platforms. And the Chiefs did not specify that the allegation involves Rice.
“The club is aware of the allegations on social media and is in communication with the National Football League,” the Chiefs’ statement reads. “We have no further comment at this time.”
The NFL confirmed its communication in a statement sent to The Star.
“We have been in contact with the club about the matter which will be reviewed under the league’s personal conduct policy,” wrote NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy.
The 25-year-old Chiefs receiver appears in a separate photo posted to the same Instagram account. Rice and the woman are shown together as a couple on other social media platforms over the past two seasons.
The Star reached out to both Rice’s agent and an attorney who has represented him in the past, and neither had responded as of Wednesday night.
The Star’s attempts to reach the alleged victim were unsuccessful.
Under the Instagram handle @dacodanichole, the viral post begins with “DOMESTIC AWARENESS WARNING!!”
“I’m so tired of keeping quiet,” the post reads. “I’m so tired of protecting his image. I’ve been through too much in a span of 8 years and I’ve had ENOUGH!”
The post says her relationship with “this man” ended “a couple months ago.” It further alleges the woman had “dealt with abuse for years.”
Under the same Instagram handle, the woman is pictured on the sideline at a Chiefs home game with Rice, who is holding a child in the photo.
A TikTok account appearing to belong to the same woman shows her in multiple videos with Rice, including on the field with him after the Chiefs won the AFC Championship Game in January 2025 and a month earlier at the team holiday party at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in December 2024.
“I’ve protected his image too long and I’m done doing that. It’s time to protect my peace, protect my children and stand up for myself,” the Instagram post concludes.
Rice missed the last two games of the Chiefs’ 2025 season, including Sunday’s final game in Las Vegas, when he sat out with a concussion. He missed the first six games of the season while serving a suspension for violating the NFL conduct policy for his involvement in a 2024 multi-car crash.
