Kansas City Chiefs at Jacksonville Jaguars: Live commentary, updates from Week 5
Things move quickly in the NFL, as Chiefs insider Pete Sweeney noted in his weekly game prediction.
How quickly? Consider the following:
The Chiefs were in a hole after starting 0-2. They’d lost to the Chargers, and some national voices were questioning whether the dynasty was still intact.
Three weeks later, the Chiefs will take the field on “Monday Night Football” in a position to tie the AFC West lead at 3-2. Oh, and they haven’t played a home game in the division yet.
So maybe things are just fine in Kansas City, and a win today would certainly cement that point.
Tonight’s “Monday Night Football” kickoff awaits — here’s how to watch and listen.

Three storylines for Chiefs-Jaguars
1. Xavier Worthy on the injury report?
The Chiefs are close to getting another major piece of the offense back in Rashee Rice, who will serve the fifth game of his six-game suspension Monday night. But now Xavier Worthy, who was injured in the season opener before returning last week against the Ravens, is back on the injury report.
Beat reporter Blair Kerkhoff reports the Chiefs have listed Worthy as “questionable” with ankle and shoulder ailments. If Worthy can play, he’ll add an extra dimension to a Chiefs offense that broke out last week. Without him? KC may need to rely more on Tyquan Thornton, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Travis Kelce and a ground game that’s struggled to get going.
2. Will weather be a factor?
Here’s the good news: The weather for tonight’s game, at least from afar, looks to be OK. After some precipitation over the weekend, there could be some scrutiny on the field conditions, but that pales in comparison to the early reports from the week.
There will be some wind tonight, and there’s always the chance for some rain. But the latest weather reports are about as positive as could have been expected, which means the attention will stay on the field, with exciting players like Jaguars rookie Travis Hunter and Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Chris Jones leading the way.
3. Welcome back Jawaan Taylor
The Chiefs’ right tackle has returned to Jacksonville — as an opponent — before, but this return is particularly notable on the heels of last Sunday’s game. Taylor, who has been a penalty magnet in his Chiefs tenure, was not flagged against the Ravens. Star columnist Vahe Gregorian called him an overlooked reason for the Chiefs’ breakout performance.
So then, for Taylor — an early second-round pick by the Jaguars in 2019 — and the rest of the Chiefs’ offensive line, the task will be keeping the penalty numbers down for a second straight week. And perhaps carving some lanes for a group of running backs who have done very little so far.
It’s Week 5, after all, and Mahomes is still this team’s leading rusher.
