In each of the first three games of the Kansas City Chiefs’ season, Travis Kelce has been shown visibly animated during the broadcasts.

In the season opener against the Los Angeles Chargers, Kelce could be seen confronting right tackle Jawaan Taylor, who had taken several penalties to set the team back. In Kansas City’s Week 2 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, FOX captured Kelce slamming down his helmet in a fit of dissatisfaction.

The most recent incident came during the Chiefs’ “Sunday Night Football” showdown against the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium, when NBC aired Kelce and KC head coach Andy Reid in the midst of a heated sideline exchange.

After the 22-9 win, Reid downplayed the interaction.

“I love Travis’ passion, man, so I’m OK with that,” Reid said, referencing a sluggish first half for the Chiefs offensively. “We didn’t have enough of it, that second quarter.

“Well, you know, it wasn’t where we needed to be. So within reason, he knows, he knows when to back off the pedal and knows when to push it too, so. That’s part I love about him, and the guy’s all in. Just sometimes, I have to be the policeman.”

Pressed for more details, Reid stressed Kelce is “all in,” joking that the tight end’s fiery nature comes from the fact that he’s Irish.

“Don’t make too much of it,” Reid said. “(Kelce’s) a passionate guy and I love that part, so I’ve been through a lot of things with him, so, that’s all part of it. I love that he loves to play the game. That’s what I love and it’s an emotional game, so I’ll take it.”

A week after popping up a pass that led to a crippling interception, Kelce caught four of his seven targets for 26 yards, including a key third-down conversion during Kansas City’s touchdown drive to open the third quarter.

Echoing his head coach’s sentiment, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes brushed aside any negativity that could be tied to Reid and Kelce’s lively discussion.

“He’s Travis,” Mahomes said. “He’s a guy that loves it. He loves it. He’s passionate about it, and that’s what’s made him so great.

“I’ve not seen what y’all are talking about, but I know Coach Reid loves it, I know Travis loves it, and I know they love each other, and that’s what you want out of the greats.”
