The Chiefs will kick off their 2025 season in a locale they’ve never played before — São Paulo. The Brazilian city is hosting its second-ever NFL game on Friday, Sept 5.

The international game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers, kicking off at 7 p.m. Central, comes as the Chiefs are down a few players, at least on a temporary basis.

Wide receiver Rashee Rice will sit out for the first six games of the season as part of an NFL-imposed suspension related to a 2024 high-speed car crash in Dallas. Meanwhile, homegrown defensive end Felix Anudike-Uzomah is out for the season after suffering a hamstring injury, and rookie wide receiver Jalen Royals is likely to miss the first game due to knee tendinitis.

But stars Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and Chris Jones are expected to return as usual, seeking redemption for Super Bowl LIX, and fans excited for the game can download a special digital poster to celebrate KC’s big moment. Only logged-in subscribers will be able to access the special download.

Another bonus for subscribers: You can buy a ticket to watch the season opener from KC Bier Co. with The Star — including two of our Chiefs beat writers. Your first round of drinks comes with your ticket.
