Clyde Edwards-Helaire, cut by KC Chiefs this week, has found his next NFL team

Clyde Edwards-Helaire did not remain without an NFL team for long.

The former Kansas City Chiefs running back signed with the New Orleans Saints practice squad, the team announced on Wednesday.

The Chiefs cut Edwards-Helaire on Monday, and he cleared waivers. He joins the team from his home state.

Edwards-Helaire is from Baton Rouge. He played for LSU’s 2019 national championship team.

He was the Chiefs’ first-round draft pick in 2020, No. 32 overall. As a rookie, he led the team in rushing with 803 yards and four touchdowns. But his production declined each year after that.

Edwards-Helaire served in a reserve role the last two seasons. His biggest game last season was against New England.

He re-signed with the Chiefs this offseason but was never active on game day. He battled post-traumatic stress disorder in training camp, which stemmed from a previous shooting incident he was involved in while at LSU.
