Reid said Thursday that starters, including Patrick Mahomes, will play the first half. But in each of the past two seasons, Mahomes was on the bench before halftime in the second preseason game.

KC Chiefs’ injury report
The biggest news from this past weekend’s Jaguars game was the opening-play shoulder injury to wide receiver Hollywood Brown. His timeline for a return is unknown.
A dozen or so Chiefs didn’t play at Jacksonville because of injuries, but a few have returned to practice this week — including cornerback Jaylen Watson.
Safety Justin Reid, linebacker Nick Bolton and wide receiver Kadarius Toney also returned to practice Monday after missing workouts and the game with injuries.
Reid said Thursday that cornerback Jaylen Watson, nursing a shoulder injury, won’t play. Neither will right tackle Jawaan Taylor, who suffered a shoulder injury in practice this week. Look for Lucas Niang to start at the position.
