Travis Kelce spent how much on a Super Bowl suite? Chiefs star drops hint in new series
Not too long ago, the Kelce family gave NFL fans a glimpse at what it looks like to buy Super Bowl tickets for their loved ones.
The “Kelce” documentary on Amazon Prime, which followed former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce for the 2022 NFL season, captured a moment between Jason and his wife, Kylie, discussing buying tickets for family and friends for the Super Bowl matchup between the Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs.
“All right, I’m doing the maximum amount of tickets that you can purchase, because that’s the amount we were counting for,” she said, before realizing the total would cost $50,000. “This is why I don’t go on the calculator on my phone.”
“It’s a lot of money,” Jason said.
“We’re paying almost $4,000 for a (expletive) kid who is not going to sit in a seat to watch her dad play in a game. That’s bananas,” she said to him.
Little brother Travis Kelce might have had to spend much more in February.
With no brother to split the costs for this year’s Super Bowl, since Jason’s team was knocked out of the playoffs in the first round, the Chiefs tight end was on the hook for everyone — his brother’s family, parents Donna and Ed, girlfriend Taylor Swift, her family and her entourage of celebrity friends, and Kelce’s friends.
He revealed how much he had to spend to bring the family to watch the Chiefs play the San Francisco 49ers in February on the new Netflix docuseries “Receiver,” which follows star NFL pass catchers throughout the 2023 season.
In a conversation with fellow tight end George Kittle of the San Francisco 49ers in the days leading up to the game, the two discussed seating plans for their loved ones at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
“Are you guys doing a suite or?” Kelce asked.
“No, I can’t,” Kittle responded.
“Because they’re (expletive) $3 million?” Kelce said
It’s not clear if Kelce spent that much himself to host everyone from mom and dad to rapper Ice Spice and singer Lana Del Rey, but he hinted at the cost on his New Heights podcast in February:
“I’m not really doing much different other than just counting how much money I’m spending on this damn Super Bowl for family and friends to come. Just making sure I’m on top of those finances and losing all this money,” said Kelce, who reportedly had a $12 million base salary in 2023, plus a potential $3 million in bonuses.
How much do Super Bowl seats cost players?
Lisa McCaffrey, mother of 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey, said before the game that no one in her family could afford to sit in a VIP suite because they cost millions of dollars on her “Your Mom” podcast.
“We looked into a suite, and none of us can afford it,” she said. “Not even Christian, money bags over there — nor money bags Olivia Culpo (Christian’s wife).
Kelce asked Kittle if he and a few of his teammates were teaming up for a suite, and Kittle said no.
But McCaffrey actually ended up getting a nice deal, as Kittle told Kelce — Culpo bought a suite for the family.
The collective bargaining agreement between the NFL and the NFL’s Player Association says that each team will provide players the opportunity to purchase two tickets to the Super Bowl. Players can buy up to 13 additional tickets, according to reporting from NJ.com and CBS Sports.
The CBA doesn’t mention anything about suite costs, but Suite Experience Group, the authorized suite partner for the Las Vegas Raiders, currently lists costs for stadium suites from $1,000 to $80,000 for a regular season game.
