Two days before the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Los Angeles Chargers in their final game of the regular season, quarterback Patrick Mahomes told his family in a text: “I decided we are going to win the Super Bowl.”

His wife, Brittany Mahomes, shared the text with her Instagram followers Tuesday afternoon with a loving tribute to her husband, who led the Chiefs Sunday to their third Super Bowl win in five years.

“This season was a special one! This guy never stopped believing in his team … through the ups and downs and all the doubters, never once did he doubt this team,” she wrote about her MVP husband.

“He is a true leader and a team player. He continued to ask himself what he could do better to lead this team to the Super Bowl.

“I saw so much behind the scenes that I will forever be in awe of you as a person and a football player! You my guy deserved this!!! I love you and am always and forever proud of you.”

The co-owner of the Kansas City Current soccer team signed her early Valentine with a red heart emoji.

Brittany Mahomes shared two texts that her husband, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, apparently sent to family members in January, one of which proclaimed that the Chiefs would be in the Super Bowl.

She also shared a second text that Mahomes sent on the evening of Jan. 28, the day the Chiefs defeated the Baltimore Ravens on Baltimore’s home turf to win the AFC Championship and a trip to the Super Bowl.

“I’ll see y’all in Vegas,” Mahomes wrote. “I’m not done.”

The couple celebrated Sunday’s victory over the San Francisco 49ers by taking their two young children to Disneyland on Monday.
