Chiefs’ receiver options grow as 3 return to practice ahead of game in Buffalo
The Chiefs could have more options at wide receiver for their AFC Divisional Round playoff game at the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.
Chiefs coach Andy Reid said Wednesday that Kadarius Toney, Skyy Moore and Justyn Ross had all returned to practice.
Toney and Ross were inactive for last weekend’s Wild Card-round victory over the Miami Dolphins. Moore, who was placed on injured reserve in December, was designated to return on Wednesday, opening a 21-day window in which he can be activated to the 53-man roster.
Five wide receivers caught passes for the Chiefs against the Dolphins: Rashee Rice, Justin Watson, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Richie James and Mecole Hardman. Rice led the way with eight receptions for 130 yards.
Defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi, among the Chiefs’ most experienced postseason players, was one of two who missed Wednesday’s practice with an injury.
Nnadi suffered an elbow injury in the first quarter last weekend and didn’t finish the game against the Dolphins. Nnadi has appeared in all 15 playoff games the Chiefs played during his six-year NFL career, with 12 starts.
Mike Pennel logged 15 snaps in Nnadi’s absence during the Chiefs’ 26-7 victory over Miami.
The other player who did not practice Wednesday was linebacker Cam Jones, who gets most of his snaps on special teams. Jones was placed on the IR.
