Chargers called 3 perfect plays against Chiefs. Here’s why they still didn’t work

The Kansas City Chiefs defense stayed strong in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s 31-17 home victory over the Los Angeles Chargers.

In this video, KC Star reporter Jesse Newell and Brett Taveau (author of the Chiefs book “Unpacking Greatness” and a longtime high school offensive coordinator) take a deeper look at how KC forced three consecutive three-and-outs against Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert and LA offensive coordinator Kellen Moore.

The truth: The Chargers had all they could have wanted on three different play-calls, putting themselves in playbook position for big gains.

So why didn’t that happen? These three Chiefs defenders, it turns out, were fantastic at opportune moments ... while also making up for some obvious mistakes around them.
