Kansas City Chiefs vs. Los Angeles Chargers: Commentary from KC’s win as it happened
It’s only Week 7, but the Kansas City Chiefs have a stranglehold over the AFC West ... to the tune of at least a three-game lead on every other team in the division.
Of course, KC has dominated the AFC West of late, and back-to-back wins over the Chargers and Broncos will certainly help. Kansas City defeated Los Angeles 31-17 on Sunday to move to 6-1 on the year and 2-0 in AFC West games.
The Chiefs were down receiver Justin Watson on Sunday, but new addition (if you can even call him that) Mecole Hardman made a couple big plays in his Chiefs re-debut, including a 50-yard punt return on the day Dante Hall’s name went up in the Ring of Honor.
Sunday’s game looked like a shootout early, with the Chiefs taking a 24-17 lead into the halftime break, but the defense returned to form in the second half and shut the Chargers out.
One big reason? Charles Omenihu returned from his six-game suspension and wreaked havoc at the line of scrimmage, even tipping up a pass that turned into an interception.
Oh, and in case you were wondering: Playing in front of Taylor Swift (again), Travis Kelce had one of the best halves of his career — and finished with 12 catches for 179 yards and a touchdown.
