Kansas City Chiefs vs. Denver Broncos: Live commentary from KC win as it happened
The next few weeks will give the Chiefs a good taste of life in the AFC West. After Thursday night’s prime-time game, the Chiefs were set to face the Chargers ... and then the Broncos again.
But first up was the “Thursday Night Football” matchup between the Chiefs and Broncos, a game in which the Chiefs’ defense did more than enough to capture a 19-8 win.
One notable storyline was the play of tight end Travis Kelce, who, aside from his oft-mentioned relationship with Taylor Swift, was questionable to even play in Thursday’s game.
But Kelce not only played — he had more than 100 receiving yards in the first half. KC claimed a 16th consecutive win over the Broncos, and Patrick Mahomes remained perfect in his career against the Chiefs’ AFC West rival.
Also helping the cause: two long-range kicks from Harrison Butker, including one from 60 yards.
Oh, and the Chiefs added some separation in the AFC West standings. Kansas City is 5-1, followed by the Chargers (2-2), Raiders (2-3) and Broncos (1-5), who continue to struggle despite improved play from Russell Wilson.
In the meantime, you can relive Thursday night’s game as it happened with our live commentary...
